The footage on social media has sparked outrage across France, with president Emmanuel Macron promising to bring the culprits to justice.  Macron said: ‘Those guilty of the cowardly and criminal lynching of police doing their duty on the night of December 31st will be found and punished.”

Douglas County, CO — In what is being referred to as an “ambush style” attack, a Colorado deputy was tragically killed New Year’s Eve by a delusional gunman. Although the attack was called an ‘ambush’ in the media, the shooter, Matthew Riehl live-streamed the attack before which he is heard telling deputies to go away.

Late Sunday afternoon the deputy who lost his life was identified as 29-year-old Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Zackari Parrish. He was described as a veteran law enforcement officer, and leaves behind a wife and two children. The news was first reported by the New York Post yesterday. The rifle-toting man who gunned down a Colorado deputy in a New Year’s Eve “ambush-style” attack had ranted about the sheriff and a local police officer in recent online posts discovered after the assault.

Matthew Riehl, 37, fired more than 100 rounds as he was holed up in a bedroom in his apartment in Highlands Ranch, before he too was found dead at the scene. Five deputies were shot, one fatally, after responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex south of Denver on Sunday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.
