COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The city of  Commerce City has paid a huge financial settlement for the death of someone’s pet.

The city recently paid $262,500 to the family of a chocolate lab-mix named Chloe, shot and killed by police. In a move that took place late Thursday, a caravan of dozens of vehicles headed into the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge this afternoon. Plenty of people continue to stay at the refuge.

Ammon Bundy has issued a statement through his attorney to the remaining occupiers to turn themselves in without using any force. Mormon Arizona rancher LaVoy Finicum was killed on the night of January 26 as the militia standoff near Burns, Oregon, came to a head. Famously, Finicum, 55, had told the media on January 6 that he would choose death over surrender. Oakland, CA — That now-familiar refrain represents the last spoken words by 51-year-old Oakland resident Hernan Jaramillo, an emotionally troubled man as his breath and life were crushed out of him by several police officers who had responded to his sister’s 911 call about a suspected intruder. Jaramillo was not a suspect and was supposedly not under arrest at the time of his death at the hands — and beneath the knees — of the officers.
