A suspect in Arizona’s recent spate of highway shootings was formally charged on Wednesday with 16 felonies, including drive-by shooting, aggravated assault, and discharging a firearm, prosecutors said.

Seattle, Washington – An IRS agent was arrested this week after he was caught attempting to con a Seattle marijuana shop owner out of $20,000.

The 42-year-old agent, Paul G. Hurley, reportedly demanded a $20,000 bribe from the shop owner, in exchange for a break on an audit. Natural Blaze note: when reports started surfacing several years ago about fake, plastic rice it shocked the world. Maybe everyone forgot because it didn’t affect them and the reports of it settled on a few particular Chinese cities. However, the problem continues and it is insidious. For a poor Chinese family to unwittingly consume the equivalent of one plastic bag per three bowls of rice – this is cruel!

China has been producing fake rice for at least four years, and it is still on the market. Singapore media reported that this “rice” is produced with potatoes, sweet potatoes and – believe it or not – poisonous plastic. A disastrous flash flood hit the Bodrum town in Turkey on the evening of September 22, 2015. An unprecedented event inundated the streets as strong flood waters came rushing down the adjacent mountains. 8 people were injured and at least 40 were rescued from their homes by the Turkey’s Search and Rescue Society (AKUT), media reports.

A severe flash flood began late evening on September 22 and lasted for about three hours. Instead of pulling over, however, James Reiner called 9-1-1 to alert dispatch to the fact that his wife was about to give birth. An 18-year-old Palestinian girl was shot by Israeli troops at a Hebron checkpoint for allegedly refusing to show her purse or face and “trying to attack” a soldier. She died of multiple wounds in a hospital after bleeding in the street for 30 minutes.

A US veterans’ organizations is running an advertisement in Air Force Times urging military drone operators to refuse orders to fly attack missions. This comes as the Air Force encounters trouble retaining drone operators due to the stress of the job.

The ad was funded by KnowDrones, an organization that aims to achieve an outright ban on the use of weaponized drones

Our world of convenience has caused most Americans to lose touch with the work involved in food. Self-reliance takes a lot more than throwing some seeds on a patch of dirt and then magically being fed for a year. Grabbing a “quick” sandwich or bowl of cereal belies what it actually takes to procure those ingredients.

We take a lot for granted. We don’t think about life without things like specialized supply purveyors, large-scale agriculture, cheap labor, machines for manufacturing, and the transportation system.  Very few people can imagine life without the accessibility provided to us by grocery stores and processed food. The Hungarian parliament has passed a law authorizing the government to deploy the military to help handle the asylum seeker crisis in the country, which includes powers to use non-lethal force.
