Yellow Vests protests brought clashes and tear gas back to the streets of Paris, despite politicians’ calls for “unity” in the wake of the Notre Dame fire. For protesters, the response to the fire only showed more inequality.

Saturday’s protests mark the 23rd straight weekend of anti-government demonstrations, but the first since Notre Dame de Paris went up in flames on Monday. Hundreds of asylum seekers surrendered to an armed militia of New Mexico citizens last night, after trying to cross the U.S. border.

Forth Worth, TX — An off duty Nacogdoches police officer was working security for an apartment complex this month when he approached a group of women and began attacking them. Dramatic video of the incident has sparked controversy as the woman claim they were doing nothing wrong when officer Josh Anders approached them without identifying himself as a cop and began attacking them.

Anders claims he approached the group of bikini clad black women last Wednesday due to ongoing issues with criminal activity. Apparently he thought a bunch of young women in bikinis were trying to rob the place. It took nearly nine months and several petitions by the Detroit Free Press until Michigan State Police (MSP) and Detroit Police allowed the body camera and dash camera footage to be released showing the minutes leading up to and the hours following the tasing murder of Damon Grimes by MSP Trooper Mark Bessner. The 16 hours of recordings show the horror, outrage, and insensitive comments made by many officers on the scene. One video even recorded the moment of his death. Bucks County, PA — An unidentified officer, who pulled his gun and shot an unarmed man inside a jail cell last month was allowed to retire and found out this week that he will not be charged. This decision by the District Attorney is in spite of the fact that the shooting was captured on video and the officer broke multiple department policies.

Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub announced Friday that the officer is going to be free from criminal prosecution for shooting Brian Riling, 38, in the abdomen on March 3. If it had only been a singular incident involving a Catholic church in France the burning of one of the most well known human monuments to all of Christianity and Western Civilization could be understandably classified as an unfortunate accident during recent renovation work. Given that more than a thousand French churches across the country have been vandalized in recent years, though, more and more French (and others) are wondering if the Notre Dame fire wasn’t something far more sinister.
