New America Now – by Brandon Smith

When a group or organization seeks to establish any social policy, it helps tremendously if that group remains honest in their endeavor. If its members are forced to lie, tell half-truths or use manipulative tactics in order to fool the masses into accepting its initiative, then the initiative at its very core is not worth consideration. Propaganda is not simply political rhetoric or editorial fervor; it is the art of deceiving people into adopting the ideology you want them to espouse. It is not about convincing people of the truth; it is about convincing people that fallacy is truth. Continue reading “The Lies That Gun Grabbers Tell”

Jewish leaders urged President Obama on Thursday to make clear during his upcoming trip to Israel that he will prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons — and to correct an early diplomatic misstep when he appeared to trace Israel’s historic claim to a modern state to the Holocaust rather than to the Bible.

In a White House meeting that lasted longer than the scheduled hour, Obama listened to leaders of more than a dozen Israel advocacy groups, representing a spectrum of views over the challenges facing the Jewish state at a moment of regional instability and mounting threats. The paper written by the Defense Science Board described the best types of bombs to use on hackers to be “Global selective strike systems e.g. penetrating bomber, submarines with long range cruise missiles, Conventional Prompt Global Strike (CPGS), survivable national and combatant command,” while “Nuclear weapons would remain the ultimate response and anchor the deterrence ladder” for cyber threats. During the Senate Judiciary meeting today to markup a potpourri of bills designed to deny the American people their rights under the Second Amendment and disarm them, Senator Dianne Feinstein opposed an amendment to her so-called assault weapons ban legislation that would allow veterans to continue buying firearms the bill would outlaw.

Feinstein basically said all veterans have PTSD and should have their Second Amendment stripped. In response to the amendment, she said the following: Continue reading “Feinstein: All vets are mentally ill and government should prevent them from owning firearms”

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Bumble Bee Foods LLC has more than doubled the size of its recall of some of its 5-ounce canned tuna because of a risk that the fish could become contaminated and spoil.

Bumble Bee said late Thursday that it’s now recalling 51,000 cases of canned tuna, up from its original 22,500 cases. Each case contains 24 to 48 cans. The company said that some cans’ seals may not be tight enough. Loose seals could let in germs and spoil the tuna, sickening an eater. X-files of Soviet Defense Ministry exposed. 49457.jpegPravda – by Svetlana Smetanina

In Soviet times, the Ministry of Defense was working on a secret project aimed at creating a superhuman with paranormal abilities. Under this project, a group of scientists managed to get in touch with a foreign civilization. The head of this top-secret project shared some details with reporters for the first time.

On a regular winter day in Moscow, in the comfort a room with a fireplace, journalists were given a real sensation. A senior retired official of the Ministry of Defense, lieutenant-general in reserve, PhD, a fellow of the Academy of Natural Sciences Alexey Savin said that in the late 1980’s a group of researchers from the Expert Management Unit of General Staff managed to make a contact with representatives of another civilization. Interestingly, none of the journalists were particularly surprised but, rather, relieved with the “confession.” Continue reading “X-Files of Soviet Defense Ministry exposed”

I’ve written on a similar topic before, and it is a little against the grain of popular commentary,  but the quote along the lines of “don’t attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity” comes to mind.

I had an interesting week, which brought this into focus for me. I wrote before on this blog about the fact that I still serve in the US Army Reserves, which means that I have to be careful about political comments; the best example being the political office of President also being one and the same with Commander in Chief, thus leaving me open to disciplinary action under UCMJ if I was to be too disparaging about the current incumbent.  Continue reading “The Danger of Attributing Malice to Stupidity”
