Gun owners are not a “protected group” under the Constitution, according to a philosophy professor at the University of North Dakota (UND).

Jack Russell Weinstein, who is also the director of the Institute for Philosophy in Public Life at UND,claimed that people uncomfortable with open-carry gun owners should simply leave a business or restaurant where the activists are present—even if that means not paying the tab. Bullhead City police were called to the home of Isabella Grogan-Cannella about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

US President Barack Obama on Tuesday authorized the deployment of an additional 350 American troops to Iraq, where they will be charged with protecting US diplomats and facilitates in Baghdad.

More than a dozen “fake cell phone towers” could be secretly hijacking Americans’ mobile devices in order to listen in on phone calls or snoop on text messages, a security-focused cell phone company claims. It is not clear who controls the devices.

If the massive supervolcano at Yellowstone National Park erupted again, scientists believe it would blanket much of the United States in ash and potentially sever communication as well as travel between the country’s coasts.

According to a new study published by the US Geological Survey, cities about 300 miles away from the volcano’s location in Wyoming would be covered in up to three feet of ash as a result of a supereruption, the largest kind of volcanic eruption possible. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A 15-year-old Indianapolis girl whose burned body was found over the weekend was likely abducted and killed by someone she didn’t know, police and family members said Tuesday.

Dominique Allen’s death was a homicide resulting from asphyxiation, Marion County Chief Deputy Coroner Alfarena Ballew ruled Tuesday. Marina Lambrou, owner of the Boston Pizzeria on Woodruff Road, said she knew some of her customers had permits to carry concealed weapons before the law changed in February to allow permit holders to take their guns into establishments that serve alcohol.

Lambrou chose not to prohibit guns, and she said the issue hasn’t been a problem.

Protect and defend may have turned into pervert and defraud, according to federal prosecutors. The US Attorney’s Office charged that former Lee, Massachusetts police chief Joseph Buffis diverted $51,044 in donations for a toy fund to his family’s bank account for their personal use over a five year period, as a press release explained.

The 56-year-old Buffis faces “three counts of wire fraud, mail fraud, and four counts of money laundering.” He allegedly asked the public for donations on Lee Police Department letterhead for the Edward J. Laliberte Toy Fund. The fund was supposed to raise money to buy toys for local needy children and provide assistance during the holidays for their families. People donated cash, checks, and toys. Prosecutors say that the physical toys gave Buffis a “reserve” that he could distribute while skimming money out of the fund for himself and his family.
