How do I know? It was obvious!

The nanosecond, AND I MEAN THE EXACT INSTANT the FCC was given control over the web to “regulate only how service providers throttle your bandwidth”, I could not get a secure connection to this web server. That has never happened before, and with this web site now being 8 years old, never seeing this cannot be attributed to a lack of experience. Now, when I log in, EVERY TIME it says “failed to establish secure connection” and after three or more crashed log in attempts, complete with matrix style gibberish on the screen crashed out to white, it allows an insecure connection (probably by riding me in on the desktop of a computer at the FCC) and I can at least get to this edit page. However, I cannot get anywhere else.   Continue reading “March 2 2015, Jim Stone Freelance is already nailed by the FCC”

American Jews sympathetic to Israel dominate key positions in all areas of our government where decisions are made regarding the Middle East. This being the case, is there any hope of ever changing U.S. policy? American Presidents as well as most members of Congress support Israel — and they know why. U.S. Jews sympathetic to Israel donate lavishly to their campaign coffers.

The answer to achieving an even-handed Middle East policy might lie elsewhere — among those who support Israel but don’t really know why. This group is the vast majority of Americans. They are well-meaning, fair-minded Christians who feel bonded to Israel — and Zionism — often from atavistic feelings, in some cases dating from childhood.   Continue reading “What Christians Don’t Know About Israel”

It seems that the NSA, the feds and law enforcement aren’t the only ones monitoring cell phone data and mobile devices.

The Ad companies are in on it, too – and are now using drones to spy, err.. track, err… keep pace with consumers.

Here’s what Venture Beat is reporting about the new drone fleet operating in the L.A. area:   Continue reading “Drones Now Collecting Your Mobile Data to Create Targeted Ads: “With Drones, It Becomes So Much Easier””

3 Leprosy Cases Confirmed in FloridaLand O’Lakes Patch – by Sherri Lonon

Health officials in Florida’s Volusia County have been battling a rare disease many people believe long eradicated.

Three people over the last five months have been confirmed to have leprosy, CBS news is reporting. In two of those cases, health officials believe the disease was contracted through contact with nine-banded armadillos.

The small, cat-sized creatures are not native to Florida, but are commonly found across most of the state, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports. The creatures are aptly named after the nine breaks found in the leather-like armor that covers their bodies.   Continue reading “3 Leprosy Cases Confirmed in Florida”

US Representative Barry Loudermilk has said he thinks it should be up to parents whether or not they should get their children vaccinated against diseases like measles and mumps.

“I believe it’s the parents’ decision whether to immunize or not,” Loudermilk said, according to a video of the event you can view below. “And so I’m looking at our wife—most of our children, we didn’t immunize. They’re healthy. Of course, home schooling, we didn’t have to get the mandatory immunization.”   Continue reading “Which Politicians Won’t Vaccinate Their Children?”

Grandpa, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. He didn’t move just sat with his head down staring at his hands.

When I sat down beside him he didn’t acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if he was OK.

Finally not wanting to disturb him but wanting to check on him at the same time, I asked if he was OK.

He raised his head and looked at me and smiled. “Yes, I’m fine , thank you for asking”, he said in a clear strong voice.   Continue reading “Grandpa’s Hands”

King Abdullah of Jordan has called the battle against the Islamic State “World War 3” in what is a “generational fight” to overcome these “outlaws of Islam.” Speaking to CNN, he implored all religions to come together, adding “this is our war.”

He made a point of referring to the fight against the Islamic State as a “third World War” and called upon all nations to come together to help counter the threat posed by the militant group since they conquered large swathes of Iraq and Syria last year.   Continue reading “King of Jordan wants to wage ‘WW3’ on ISIS”

BOSTON (AP) — It has topped more than 100 inches of snow this season, but Boston is just short of surpassing its 20-year-old snowfall record — for now that is.

Sunday’s snowfall brought the city’s total to 103.9 inches. It needs just 3.7 inches more to break the 1995-1996 record of 107.6. Two small snowfalls, Tuesday night and Wednesday into Thursday, could be just what’s needed, said Frank Nocera, a National Weather Service meteorologist in the Taunton, Massachusetts, office. “The combination of those two events could put us over the record,” he said.   Continue reading “Boston falls short of season snow record – for now”

BAGHDAD (AP) — Backed by allied Shiite, Sunni and Iranian fighters, Iraqi security forces launched a large-scale military operation Monday to recapture Saddam Hussein’s hometown from the Islamic State extremist group, a major step in a campaign to reclaim territory in northern Iraq controlled by the militants.

But hours into the operation, a key test for the embattled Iraqi army, the military said it still hadn’t entered the city of Tikrit, indicating a long battle lies ahead. State-run Al-Iraqiya television said that forces were attacking Tikrit from different directions, backed by artillery and airstrikes by Iraqi fighter jets. It said the militants were dislodged from some areas outside the city. Several hours into the operation, it gave no additional details.   Continue reading “Iraq launches operation to retake Tikrit from Islamic State”

Michael Youlen gained his police powers using a little-known provision of state law that allows private citizens to petition the courts for the authority to carry a gun, display a badge and make arrests. The number of “special conservators of the peace” — or SCOPs, as they are known — has doubled in Virginia over the past decade to roughly 750, according to state records.

Youlen said he left to start a private investigator service and then became a SCOP after reading about a housing community in Stafford County called Aquia Harbour that had its own private police force.   Continue reading “Private police forces are growing under DHS”
