Could it be that premier scientific journals are finally conveying the truth about GMOs? In a relatively recent exploration of ‘ubiquitous’ GMOs that have taken over our food supply, the New England Journal of Medicine tackles 2 new concerns over genetically modified organisms and the pesticides used to grow them.
As the journal points out, the omnipresence of GMOs are taken for granted by most physicians. They aren’t high on their list of health concerns, and barely receive a mention when patients come for a visit. This might start to change though, due to 2 fresh developments concerning GM crops. A bizarre experiment claims to be able to make Christians no longer believe in God and make Britons open their arms to migrants in experiments some may find a threat to their values.
Scientists looked at how the brain resolves abstract ideological problems.
Using a technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), researchers safely shut down certain groups of neurones in the brains of volunteers. Continue reading “Scientists claim they can change your belief on immigrants and God – with MAGNETS”

Ever since Microsoft launched Windows 10, the company has come under fire for its aggressive update policies. In the weeks following launch, Windows 7 users were greeted with a giant “Reserve your upgrade today!” banner, every time they launched IE11 (if set to the default home page). At least one of our own writers had a system surprise-install the operating system, despite not being told to do so. And now, in an apparent repeat of what we thought was an odd corner case, Microsoft made an error in Windows Update that’s forcing people to upgrade to Windows 10, whether they wish to do so or not. Continue reading “Windows Update error forces some users to upgrade to Windows 10”

Congratulations Maine! Beginning this week, you will become the 8th state or territory to allow some form of unrestricted concealed carry in public places. All residents aged 21 or over will no longer need a permit to carry a pistol or revolver on their person, when traveling on foot or in their vehicles. There are a few exceptions such as courthouses, schools, federal buildings, state parks, etc. But for the most part, so long as you’re legally allowed to own a firearm, you’re good to go in the State of Maine.
And contrary to what many of the gun grabbers would have you think, the state isn’t going to turn into a Mad Max free-for-all any time soon. Continue reading “Sign of Things to Come? Maine Now Allows Concealed Carry Without Permit”

America is becoming unrecognizable. The landscape is still familiar; the flag looks the same. But it is a changed placed.
And some places are more changed than others.

If you’ve ever seen a drone fly over your property, you’ve probably felt the urge to shoot the damn thing down with extreme prejudice. However, doing so would carry a few risks. You don’t know what that drone is going to crash into after you pull the trigger, and you may find yourself in a small claims court for damaging someone’s toy.
Fortunately, a better solution has arrived. The Battelle Drone Defender is a 10 pound rifle that shoots electromagnetic waves in a 30 degree cone. The waves are tuned to the most commonly used ISM and GPS frequencies, that drones use to communicate with their controllers. Once you pull the trigger, the radio waves safely disable the drone, and it can be guided to the ground from up to 400 meters away. While the technology behind this tool is hardly new, this is probably the first counter-drone device that is this portable. Continue reading “New Anti-Drone Gun Can Safely Disable UAVs”
