The family of a 19-year-old man who was fatally shot by a South Carolina police officer last year has settled its wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Seneca for $2.15 million.
The settlement, nearly 10 times higher than a figure offered last week by city leaders, comes as a federal investigation continues into the officer’s actions. Joshua Bunn was a rifleman in one of the bloodiest valleys in Afghanistan, where his infantry unit killed hundreds of enemy fighters and lost more comrades than any other battalion in the Marine Corps in 2009.

PHOENIX — A Texas man fatally shot by a Mesa police officer in January was heard begging for his life moments before his death, according to a police report released Tuesday morning.
A witness and a transcription of officer video footage describe Daniel Shaver saying “Please don’t shoot me” and “Please don’t shoot,” just before an officer later identified as Philip “Mitch” Brailsford unloaded his service weapon. The Obama administration is supporting several non-profit groups — with federal funding through a major White House initiative — that are part of an organized effort aimed at converting green-card holders into U.S. citizens in order to vote against Donald Trump, a Daily Caller investigation reveals.

To tell or not to tell. That is the dilemma and heated debate which is occurring in California over Bisphenol A (BPA) in some of the canned food products sold at grocery stores. The regulators are concerned that wording on the label is too scary. They claim to be worried that poor customers won’t buy canned food anymore.
Warnings are supposed to be on food product labels and/or posted on retailers shelves by May of 2016, but California is delaying the labeling law and is making other, less alarming, plans to inform consumers of the presence of BPA. APPLE VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — The FBI on Tuesday continued to investigate an incident in which 17 men were detained for reportedly firing off hundreds of rounds in a remote part of Apple Valley.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies and an FBI agent responded to the scene Sunday morning and detained the men – reportedly all of Middle Eastern descent – who were camping out in the Deep Creek Hot Springs area Sunday morning, authorities said. Gilbert, AZ — The family of Kyle Cardenas has filed a notice of claim with the Gilbert Police Department after they say, police beat him and tasered him until his heart stopped.
According to the claim, Cardenas’ family called the VA Crisis hotline on Sept. 12, 2015, and asked for medical help for their son. Cardenas was suffering from PTSD-induced delusions, so his family specifically asked for no police and a crisis team instead. A dozen current and former principals from Detroit Public Schools were among those hit with bribery and conspiracy charges by the federal government regarding a scheme to score kickbacks from school supplies that were rarely, if ever, delivered.
The scheme covers the time period between 2009 and 2014 and involves not just the 12 current and former DPS principals, but also the assistant superintendent of the DPS Office of Specialized Student services, Clara Flowers, and a company called Allstate Sales, an authorized school supplies vendor for DPS.
