I’m getting pretty used to the things I write being scorned as “fake news” by the people who just wish I’d shut up and go away. I understand that cognitive dissonance runs deep and that you can’t reach everyone. I tend to ignore them and carry on with what I’m doing.

The European Commission has put U.S. tech companies Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft and Google-owned YouTube on notice: Clean up the hate speech on your platforms or face some stringent new laws.
The European Union agency’s warning comes some seven months after the companies agreed to support a new code of conduct drafted by the European Union to help curb the spread of online abuse via social media. A 28-year-old North Carolina man is accused of firing a gun inside a Washington, D.C. pizza place after he went to “self-investigate” an election-related “fictitious online conspiracy theory,” police say.

Seattle police caught an alleged car thief by enlisting the help of car maker BMW to both track and then remotely lock the luckless criminal in the very car he was trying to steal.

Because, Mr. Trump, you will set your own foreign policy, the main tasks for the next secretary of state will be to execute that policy and to purge the Department of State of those who have, for so many decades, championed the causes of foreign countries and have plied those foreigners with taxpayer money that should have been spent at home.
