On Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan testified in front of the Senate Homeland Security Committee regarding the conditions on the southern border with Mexico.

Border Patrol agents are reporting that they are overwhelmed by a massive uptick in illegal immigration of unaccompanied foreign children, leaving some members of the force stuck serving food to kids and ordering various supplies such as baby wipes, according to Mark Morgan, chief of the Border Patrol, which operates within the Department of Homeland Security.
Border agents have expressed shock at the menial tasks they’ve been required to perform following a massive flow of illegal immigrant children across the U.S. southern border, according to Morgan, who warned that the force is being strained as a result of this influx. A pipeline explosion that caused a large fire in Platte County, just north of Kansas City, on Tuesday evening, clearly revealed exactly why the water protectors at Standing Rock are standing up against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday appeared closely divided over whether immigrants detained for more than six months by the U.S. government while deportation proceedings take place are eligible for a hearing in which they can seek their release.

Congress will vote today on a nearly 1,000-page bill that holds drastic changes for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). If the bill is approved, it would speed up the approval of new drugs and medical devices. The House has been heavily criticized for allegedly rushing piece of legislation through without sufficient scrutiny. [1]
The legislation, dubbed the 21st Century Cures Act, sets aside $6.3 billion for biomedical research, opioid abuse prevention, and support for the FDA, which oversees the safety of drugs. Multiple provisions are contained in the bill that are designed to loosen the requirements for drugmakers seeking approval from the agency to market their products. President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Elaine Chao to be his Secretary of Transportation, the head of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Chao served as President George W. Bush’s Secretary of Labor for Bush’s full 8-year presidency. Chao is married to neocon Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
I have some comments on this, as a trucker, business owner and someone who is literally affected by all the absurd edicts of the DOT every day. A San Francisco supervisor is proposing more money for lawyers to defend immigrants who face possible deportation under a Trump administration.
KCBS reports ( http://cbsloc.al/2fzRzvR ) that San Francisco Supervisor David Campos will introduce legislation Tuesday setting aside $5 million from the city’s budget to help pay for lawyers to represent people in deportation proceedings. North Dakota — In what could only be termed a potential gross violation of human rights, the Morton County Sheriff’s Department announced today it plans to block all supplies from entering Standing Rock camps — including deliveries of food.

Nestle, which is arguably the world’s leading advocate of water privatization, is about to acquire 100 million gallons of drinking water in Michigan.
In Evart, Michigan, which is just 120 miles from Flint, Nestle is in the process of negotiating a permit with the state of Michigan to increase its current pumping operations for its private bottled water business to 210 million gallons of water per year. In exchange for the selling off groundwater normally used by residents for drinking and bathing, Nestle — which is valued at over $200 billion — will only have to pay $200. The US has reached a new energy milestone after the volume of the natural gas exported in November exceeded the amount imported during the same period.
The country has become a net exporter of natural gas for the first time in nearly six decades, according to the US Energy Department.
