CALAVERAS, Calif. (KGO) — The beloved ‘tunnel’ or ‘drive-thru’ tree fell to the ground during a massive storm in the Bay Area that left rivers and creeks flooded, houses damaged and several thousand people without power.

An upset Baltimore man, Daniel Brian Blackwell, 55, triggered an hours-long standoff with police after opening fire in his home because someone took a bite out of his grilled cheese sandwich.

MEXICO CITY –  Mexican prosecutors said Sunday that they have detained a U.S. citizen as the main suspect in the shooting of an official at the U.S. consulate in the western city of Guadalajara.

The federal Attorney General’s Office said that “a U.S. citizen was identified and detained for his presumed involvement in the case. PORTLAND — Federal prosecutors want a judge to order a Northern California man to remove all information from his website about confidential informants involved in the takeover of a national wildlife refuge in Oregon last winter.

In court filings Friday, prosecutors said the information posted by Gary Hunt, 70, was turned over to defense attorneys in the case pursuant to a protective order that barred it from being shared with outside parties, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. The DeConcini port of entry in downtown Nogales closed for much of Sunday afternoon after demonstrations in Mexico turned violent and police fired numerous gunshots in the air.

Mexican police reported that two officers were injured as some demonstrators threw rocks on the fifth day of protests against gasoline-price increases in Mexico. Police responded to the rock-throwing by firing shots in the air just south of the port of entry, El Diario de Sonora reported. That’s when American officials closed the port of entry.

Much fear and hype is being placed around a Peace Summit that will take place on January 15th. This summit will feature 70 nations from around the globe who will meet in Paris, France to discuss the issue of a two state solution between Israel and the Palestinians. Temperatures were dipping into unfriendly territory Saturday afternoon as sports fans flocked to the events at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

At nearby Lykes Gaslight Park, members of Tampa’s homeless community were gathered for hot coffee and bagels, courtesy of the group Food Not Bombs.

There were no altercations, no illicit substances, no bad behavior—unless you count that, according to the City of Tampa, that coffee and bagels were illegal.
