WASHINGTON D.C. — The United States had the ability to use aerial spraying to destroy the opium crops in Afghanistan used by the Taliban to fund their terrorist activities after 9/11 but refused to do so out of concern that the plants “might be too close to a mosque,” declared Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) during a congressional hearing.
Rep. Rohrabacher said that U.S. government has been able to aerial spray and eradicate the opium crops in Afghanistan used to make the deadly heroin drug for at least 20 years but has declined to employ that capability. WASHINGTON — The majority of Democrats and Republicans in the House voted to postpone a government shutdown by one week, giving Congress until next Friday at midnight to hammer out a spending deal for the rest of the fiscal year.

The Texas House passed a tough anti-sanctuary bill containing provisions making it a crime for sheriffs and chiefs of police to refuse to cooperate with immigration officials. They could also be removed from office for providing “sanctuary” for the criminal illegal aliens in their jails.

The first court test of Bayer/J&J’s billion-dollar bonanza, blood-thinner, Xarelto, is coming up in New Orleans next week. The outcome will influence how the 18,000 lawsuits behind it will be handled.
The plaintiff in the first suit is Joseph Boudreaux. “While Xarelto was supposed to help cut his stroke risk, Boudreaux says it instead caused internal bleeding that required a week-long hospital stay in the intensive-care unit, several blood transfusions and multiple heart procedures. ‘I don’t want anybody else to suffer like I have from that drug,’ the part-time security guard says,” reports the Chicago Tribune. April 27 (UPI) — Police in Oregon issued a “verbal warning” to a cat reportedly seen armed with a gun-shaped stick.
Newport Oregon Police Department shared a photo of a black and white cat perched in a tree with its paw draped over a stick that appeared to resemble an automatic rifle.

NEWTON, N.C. – The Federal Aviation Administration said a helicopter crashed Thursday afternoon, clipping a home in a North Carolina neighborhood. Emergency personnel said the two people onboard the aircraft were hurt.

A bill to expand the federal death penalty to include the killing of state and local police officers advanced through a Republican-controlled committee in Congress Thursday, over the objections of civil liberties and criminal justice groups who argue it is unnecessary and duplicative.
The House Judiciary Committee advanced a bill Thursday, the Thin Blue Line Act, by a 19-12 vote that would make the killing of a state or local law enforcement officer during the commission of a federal crime an aggravating factor for juries to consider when weighing a death penalty sentence. In 1961 we almost lost North Carolina, when a plane carrying two bombs armed with nuclear warheads broke up over Goldsboro. The only reason the state didn’t suffer the first unplanned nuclear explosion on American soil was because an on-off switch happened to be in the “off” position.
