New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared Tuesday that his deputies will block U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from entering New York City public schools — even though agency officials say they are not pursuing illegal immigrants in schools.
“We will not allow ICE agents to threaten that protection, disrupt classes or take any action that would be detrimental to our students,” de Blasio said at a press conference held outside New York’s Tweed Courthouse Tuesday afternoon. “With these updated guidelines, we are reinforcing the fact that a school is a safe and protected location,” he said, adding that his promise would not apply if ICE got a court order. LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Troy police officer accused of driving drunk and crashing his car into a Colonie police vehicle pleaded not guilty.
Kevin P. McKenna, 26, was arrested shortly after midnight Saturday on Troy-Schenectady Road near Goodrich Avenue.
McKenna was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck when he crashed into the back of a Colonie Police transportation vehicle as it was pulled over conducting a traffic stop. A violent cop is off the streets (for now) after being caught on video kicking a surrendering man, who was not resisting at all, in the face. To illustrate just how terrible police accountability actually is in this country — this was the officer’s second time being caught on video kicking a non-violent person.
According to the NY Daily News, “An ex-Minneapolis cop was charged in a brutal kicking assault that left a 35-year-old man with a traumatic brain injury, and a video of the assault contradicts his narrative of what happened.” Christopher Reiter, while responding to a domestic assault call, kicked Mohammed Osman in the head, breaking his nose and reportedly causing traumatic brain injury. Knightdale, NC — The Knightdale Police Department, in North Carolina, boasts their K-9 unit provides, “a number of valuable services to the Knightdale community.” Apparently, one of those community interactions using their trained attack dogs involves busting juveniles with weed.
In a WNCN local news story titled, “3 teens smoking pot busted when Knightdale police officer drives by, officials say,” the town is getting a bit of recognition for tracking down those potheads and giving them a dose of canine justice. “Three teens were nabbed in Knightdale Sunday afternoon when they were smoking marijuana outside as a police officer drove by, authorities say,” the article states indicating the officer of the peace’s olfactory senses were alerted to the skunky smell of freshly burned cannabis. In February of 2016, hackers managed to gain access to the Bangladesh Central Bank. They proceeded to issue about three dozen requests to withdraw money from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York amounting to $951 million. By sheer luck, the Federal Reserve managed to stop the transaction after only $101 million had been sent ($20 million was later recovered). To date, the culprits of this heist haven’t been caught. Former Russian lawmaker Denis Voronenkov has been shot and killed in central Kiev, Ukrainian police have said.
“There was an exchange of fire in front of the entrance to the Premier-Palace Hotel about 40 minutes ago. One man was killed and two other persons were injured. The identity of the killed man has been established. He is a Russian politician, a former State Duma member. More than 200 armed police have practised their response to a terrorist attack on a Thames “pleasure boat” in the first drill of its kind on London’s main river.
A sightseeing ship became the scene of a fierce mock gun battle between armed officers and police posing as terrorists shortly after 11am on Sunday.

In a landmark federal case, a man has been charged in the US with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for sending a malicious tweet which triggered an epileptic fit.

NEW YORK (AP) — Officials are calling the death of a black man who they say was repeatedly stabbed with a sword by a white U.S. Army veteran an assault on the city’s inclusiveness and diversity. James Harris Jackson, of Baltimore, had taken a bus to New York to target black men, authorities said. He encountered Timothy Caughman, who was collecting bottles from trash cans, and stabbed him in his chest and back with a 26-inch sword, Assistant Chief William Aubry said. WASHINGTON (AP) — More people sought U.S. unemployment benefits last week, but applications are still at a low level that points to a healthy job market. THE NUMBERS: Weekly unemployment benefit applications rose 15,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 258,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. The four-week average ticked up 1,000 to 240,000. WASHINGTON (AP) — Middle-age white Americans with limited education are increasingly dying younger, on average, than other middle-age U.S. adults, a trend driven by their dwindling economic opportunities, research by two Princeton University economists has found.
The economists, Anne Case and Angus Deaton, argue in a paper released Thursday that the loss of steady middle-income jobs for those with only high school diplomas or less has triggered broad problems for this group. They are more likely than their college-educated counterparts, for example, to be unemployed, unmarried or afflicted with poor health. The war in Syria is heating up yet again with signs that the conflict may soon be about to take greater international dimensions. This is all due to greater Israeli participation and aggression in Syria against the Syrian military and on the behalf of terrorist organizations fighting against the Syrian government. The questions that remain, however, are whether or not the Israelis are willing to tempt the resolve of the anti-terrorist coalition of Syria, Hezbollah, Iran, and Russia and how steadfast that resolve of those powers might actually be. The trial for the Political Prisoners in Las Vegas, Nevada continues this week. The prosecution has presented their case over 5 weeks, even extending it beyond what they originally stated.
Judge Gloria Navarro has allowed the prosecution much leeway, but has ruled that the defendants will not need the same concessions. In 1989, the Iron Curtain between the East and West as symbolized by the Berlin Wall came down. In 1990, East and West Germany were reunited for the first time since the end of World War II. George Herbert Walker Bush had said that a New World Order was coming into view. Now, 27 years later, it’s clear that what he was talking about was a One World Order – under Fascism/Communism (just depends on which side of the money line you’re on).

Police in the northern Belgian city of Antwerp detained a French national on Thursday after he tried to drive a car into a major pedestrian shopping street at high speed.
