State education officials plan to scrap a literacy exam given to prospective teachers and allow certification for some applicants who fail a performance-assessment test — moves that critics warned will weaken the pool of candidates.

Scientists are finally beginning to uncover some of the chemical mechanisms underlying the powerful medical benefits of marijuana and its cannabinoid compounds.
The breakthrough came with the discovery of the body’s endocannabinoid system, a biological system based around signaling molecules highly similar to many of the phytocannabinoid (plant-based cannabinoid) compounds found in marijuana (cannabis). Cannabinoid receptors are found on nearly every cell in the body, enabling the endocannabinoid system to play a key role in regulating everything from sleep and metabolism, to appetite and immune function.

A county judge in Florida has ruled unconstitutional on Tenth Amendment grounds another of President Donald Trump’s executive orders on immigration, this one concerning federal funding for sanctuary cities.
This week President Trump is signing a new executive order (EO) to replace Executive Order 13769, the one restricting immigration from seven terror-prone nations that had been stayed (i.e., put on hold) by left-leaning judges in first by Washington State and later by the U.S. Court of Appeals for Ninth Circuit, which the president signed on Jan. 27 of this year. Oil prices are set to rise sharply starting in 2020 if new energy investments are not made this year.
That was the message of the International Energy Agency as the CERAWeek energy conference kicked off in Houston. There’s a worldwide glut of oil now, and the IEA said that supply looks adequate for the next three years, thanks to rising production from U.S. shale producers and Canadian oilsands projects that were sanctioned before the oil price crunch began. Ontario’s police watchdog has charged an Ottawa police constable with three counts, including manslaughter, in the July 2016 death of Abdirahman Abdi.
Abdi, a 37-year-old Somali-Canadian man with as yet unspecified mental health issues, lost vital signs during a confrontation with Ottawa police constables Daniel Montsion and Dave Weir on Sunday, July 24, 2016.

A jury found Kentucky Amish farmer Sam Girod guilty last week of breaking FDA laws in mislabeling his home-made herbal salve product. His sentencing hearing will be on June 16 at 10am, and he reportedly faces up to 48 years in prison. This morning I began working on updating my research on the Public Health System because as you know… or should know by now, it’s the Public Health System that is importing all of the refugees into Idaho. Idaho’s Public Health system is a privatized system which means that YOUR government has put YOUR life and your FAMILY’S LIVES into the hands of a private organization called the Jannus Group – formerly the Mountain States Group.

National Governors Association Conference, Secretary Chao on Infrastructure Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao spoke at the last day of the National Governors Association winter meeting. She talked about about the Trump administration’s desire to invest in infrastructure. Following her remarks, she took questions and listened to concerns from some of the governors in attendance. Afterward, the president of an intelligent transportation trade group and a division of defense contractor Lockheed Martin spoke to the governors before Governor Terry McAuliffe (D-VA), the association’s chair, adjourned the meeting.

March 3, 2017, Science Daily reported about overcharges new electronic ‘energy meters’—aka “smart meters”—are capable of pulling off due to false readings, as per a report of what’s been happening in Dutch households in The Netherlands.
The study was undertaken at the University of Twente (UT) in collaboration with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). Due to rumors of overwhelming overbillings, Professor Frank Leferink of UT investigated electronic meters to determine if they, in fact, can give false readings. The Supreme Court, decrying the “recurring evil” of racial bias in the U.S. criminal justice system, ruled on Monday in the case of a Hispanic man convicted on sex charges that a juror’s racist comments during deliberations may be grounds for nullifying a verdict.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the court, said the need to erase racial prejudice from legal proceedings overrides long-standing policies aimed at keeping jury deliberations generally off-limits in bids to overturn verdicts.
