US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 20 criminal aliens and immigration fugitives with final deportation orders this week in San Diego, California.
Of those arrested during the week-long operation in San Diego county, 85% had prior criminal convictions including for drug possession, weapons offenses, DUI, theft, domestic violence and evading law enforcement, ICE reported. An on-duty New Jersey police officer who was behind the wheel of his patrol car when he was found overdosed on heroin in April has lost his job, authorities said Friday.
Matthew D. Ellery, 29, of Middlesex, was sworn in as a police officer with the Franklin Township Police Department in August 2016, according to Lt. Philip Rizzo, a department spokesman. Presidents Xi Jinping and Donald Trump agreed to a 90-day trade truce to allow for further talks to address US concerns after China committed to buying a “very substantial” amount of American exports, the White House said in a statement late on Saturday.
