Adults aged 18-79 years should be screened for hepatitis C virus infection, according to an updated grade B recommendation from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.

Cases of acute hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection have spiked in the last decade, in part because of increased use of injection drugs and in part because of better surveillance, Douglas K. Owens, MD, of Stanford (Calif.) University, and colleagues wrote in the recommendation statement published in JAMA. Continue reading “Screen all adults for hepatitis C, says USPSTF”

The Great Recession

The economy was already heaving in the toilet before COVID-19 dropped the lid on its head and sat on it. Sales, revenue, real earnings, manufacturing, and finally the services industry had all puked. Last week, stocks got the Great Flush as the market went down with the economy.

Be careful who you listen to in times of Great Depression. The permabulls are already telling their crowd now is the time to catch bargains and ride the market back up. Sit and think on that before your next movement.  Continue reading “The Economy was Already in the Toilet before COVID-19 Flushed it”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s senior aide Natan Eshel said that “hate is what unites” the right-wing camp led by the Likud party and that negative campaigning works well on “non-Ashkenazi voters” in a leaked recording revealed by Channel 12 on Saturday.

Not a surprise given the news yesterday that one person there has died of the disease and two more, a teenager and a woman in her 50s, are presumptive positives. A fourth man from Washington was diagnosed with COVID-19 in January after traveling in China near Wuhan; he’s now completely recovered, but God only knows how many people he may have infected at the Seattle airport or elsewhere in the community before he was diagnosed.  Continue reading “Scientist: Genetic Analysis Suggests Coronavirus Has Been Spreading In Washington State For Weeks”

Poplar Bluff, MO — There are so many cases each week of police officers getting caught with child porn or sexually assaulting children that TFTP cannot report on all of them. However, the following case out of Missouri is so disconcerting that we felt it was necessary to make a point. Child predators often seek out positions of authority which allow them to carry out their sick desires while garnering the trust of those around them. Poplar Bluff police officer Brandon Michael Hopper was one of these predators.  Continue reading “School Cop Tasked with ‘Protecting’ Young Children, Arrested for Child Sex Trafficking”

Lies candidates tell us.

1) Politicians take money by the truckload from the wealthy but claim they are opposed to the unequal distribution of wealth. Yet who passed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913? It gave Bankers the right to charge us interest on money they create out of nothing. The Income Tax also had to be passed in 1913 to pay for the interest on the debt that was created out of nothing. If we had not repealed President Lincoln’s non-interest bearing Greenbacks, we would save $12 billion a week we currently are paying on phony interest payments for the “fictional national debt” that need not be. And we would not have that “fictional” $23 trillion national debt. Continue reading “Lies, Damned Lies & Presidential Candidates”

A revolution-minded, conspiracy-bent militia group named the Oath Keepers is recruiting law officers in Hood County to take up arms in what the founder predicts will be a “bloody civil war” against the U.S. government.

A national director of the Las Vegas-based Oath Keepers, John D. Shirley, moved to rural Hood County in 2015 and has been appointed by county commissioners as a constable, giving him both access to confidential information and a political platform to recruit more militia members.
