A growing interest in health and heath food has helped drive consumer demand for fish to an all-time high. A diet rich in fish has grown so popular that global fish consumption jumped 122% from 1990 to 2018, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).1

Fish is often viewed as a healthier alternative to meat2 due to the so-called “benefits” on human health and the environment. But is it really healthier for you and the planet? That all depends on what kind of fish you’re eating and where it’s sourced from. Continue reading “The High Cost of Salmon Farming”

The saying “You are what you eat” may soon become a lot more literal.

A “DIY meal kit” for growing steaks made from human cells was recently nominated for “design of the year” by the London-based Design Museum.

Named the Ouroboros Steak after the circular symbol of a snake eating itself tail-first, the hypothetical kit would come with everything one needs to use their own cells to grow miniature human meat steaks. Looks like Charlie Brown has joined F.R.I.E.N.D.S and The Simpsons as TV shows to be hit by a racial controversy after the 1973 Thanksgiving special was aired again. The classic episode features the cartoon’s only Black character, Franklin, sitting in a lawn chair on one side of a festive dinner table. The other five White characters, along with Snoopy the dog sat on a different side, on what appeared to be dining seats. There is no doubt that the classic Peanuts holiday cartoon holds a dear place in American hearts but many social media users are saying that it is problematic.  Continue reading “People Are Calling ‘Charlie Brown’ Racist For Its Depiction Of Thanksgiving Dinner”
