The Supreme Court declined Monday to block New York’s vaccine mandate for health care workers — one that has an exception for medical reasons but none for religious objections.
The court denied a request for a temporary order to block the requirement while lawsuits against it proceed. The denial came in a one-sentence order with no explanation, which is the normal procedure when such a request is denied. Documents released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reveal that drugmaker Pfizer recorded nearly 160,000 adverse reactions to its Covid-19 vaccine in the initial months of its rollout.
The documents were obtained by a group of doctors, professors, and journalists calling themselves Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency, who filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the FDA for their release. Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is proposing a program to contract with private companies to transport and remove illegal immigrants from the state.
“In yesterday’s budget, I put in $8 million for us to be able to transport people here illegally out of the state of Florida,” DeSantis said in a Friday press conference. “It’s somewhat tongue in cheek, but it is true, if you sent them to Delaware or Martha’s Vineyard or some of these places, that border would be secure the next day. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) called on the state legislation Saturday to send him a bill that will allow private citizens to sue “assault weapon” manufacturers.
