New York City mayor, and former NYPD officer, Eric Adams has decided to bring back a controversial unit to help police the streets of New York.
According to NPR, Adams has vowed to reduce or end gun violence on the streets. He believes in order to maintain his promise, Adams is bringing back the controversial plainclothes unit that sees officers dressed in regular clothes patrol the streets. The US Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Saturday is showing off the first part of a $200 million “security assistance” package for Ukraine’s army which has arrived rather quickly after the Biden administration approved it.
“The donation, which includes close to 200,000 pounds of lethal security assistance, including ammunition for the front line defenders of Ukraine, demonstrates the United States’ strong commitment to Ukraine’s sovereign right to self-defense,” the U.S. embassy said in posts on Facebook and Twitter. The US federal government will no longer require hospitals to report the number of people who die from COVID-19 every day, according to new guidelines from the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
On January 6, the HHS published updated guidelines on which information hospitals provide to the agency. The State Department has ordered families of U.S. Embassy personnel in Ukraine to begin evacuating the country as soon as Monday, U.S. officials tell Fox News.

A truck carrying some 100 monkeys was involved in a crash with a dump trailer in Montour County, Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon. The animals were being transported to a laboratory, local media reported, citing police.
While it is unclear whether any animals were injured, some of them were confirmed to have escaped. The authorities have launched a search and asked for the public’s assistance.
