Ever since the near failure of the Oroville dam and reservoir complex (in California) a couple of years ago, I have been keeping occasional tabs on the ongoing repair, remediation and construction work that is underway at the site. Until recently I blithely assumed that all was well, and things were being built back better than ever. The company Flint, Michigan, hired to replace lead water pipes had no experience with the work, according to a councilwoman and a contractor, despite that the city has received more than $600 million in state and federal aid for its water crisis.

US President Donald Trump on Sunday threw his support behind Israel amid ongoing airstrikes in the blockaded Gaza Strip, reports Anadolu Agency.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The notorious US mercenary firm Blackwater has returned to Iraq to train thousands of ISIL terrorists in the Washington-occupied Ein al-Assad base in al-Anbar province, a Lebanese newspaper reported.
The Arabic-language al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Saturday that Blackwater, along with other security firms, has returned to Iraq since the start of 2018 after Washington’s heavy pressures on Baghdad to issue a relevant license.

Wethersfield, CT — Deeply disturbing dash cam footage was released over the weekend showing a Wethersfield police officer jump out of his car and in front of the car belonging to 18-year-old Anthony Jose “Chulo” Vega Cruz and kill him. The teen was unarmed and not a threat to anyone when he was gunned down by the officer.

Americans who have been laid off and forced to train their foreign H-1B visa replacements say there is “no shortage” of qualified U.S. workers for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) jobs.

The most widespread U.S. measles outbreak in a quarter-century has infected 60 new patients in the last week, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 764, federal health officials said on Monday.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported an 8.5 percent increase in the number of measles cases since April 26, also confirming that the worst outbreak of the measles in the United States since 1994 has now reached 23 states. BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — An executive for the company proposing the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada’s oil sands into the U.S. says it has missed the 2019 construction season due to court delays.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Trump administration is deploying a carrier strike group and bombers to the Middle East in response to troubling “indications and warnings” from Iran and to show the United States will retaliate with “unrelenting force” to any attack, national security adviser John Bolton said on Sunday.
With tensions already high between Washington and Tehran, a U.S. official said the deployment has been ordered “as a deterrence to what has been seen as potential preparations by Iranian forces and its proxies that may indicate possible attacks on U.S. forces in the region.”However, the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the United States was not expecting any imminent Iranian attack.
