Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard that marijuana laws are changing (mainly easing up) everywhere. Some states have legal medical marijuana and Washington and Colorado have made it recreationally legal for those over 21. Other states like Oregon are pushing for recreational legalization on the ballot this year. In any case, if you are in the right place or have the right authorization to use it, marijuana is legal for you to use. However, this does not mean all limits are lifted. If you are going to legally use marijuana for medical or recreational purposes, there are some things you need to remember to ensure you avoid legal trouble. PROSSER, Wash. (AP) — Washington state’s first marijuana auction brought in about $600,000.
Fireweed Farms of Prosser sold about 300 pounds of pot to state-licensed processors and retailers Saturday, the Tri-City Herald reported (http://is.gd/JsJp6T ). Bidding took place under a black tent fronted by tall heaters, and the event was monitored by at least two representatives of the Washington Liquor Control Board. Bidders could smell plastic bags of buds before offering a bid. Continue reading “Washington’s first pot auction brings in $600,000”

Cannabis extracts can help slow the growth of cancerous tumours when used alongside radiotherapy treatments, new research has suggested.
Two active chemical components found in cannabis plants, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) were tested as part of research into the treatment of brain cancer tumours.
This type of cancer is notoriously difficult to treat and has a particularly poor prognosis. The rate of survival for patients five years after diagnosis is just 10 per cent. Continue reading “Cannabis extracts can ‘dramatically slow’ growth of brain cancer tumours, new research suggests”

BP is asking a federal judge to cap the amount of Gulf oil spill-related fines it must pay at $12 billion, which is almost a third less than the amount U.S. prosecutors are seeking from the company.
On Friday, BP argued in court papers that the Environmental Protection Agency and the Coast Guard didn’t have the authority to raise spill-related fines above the $3,000-per-barrel Clean Water Act cap for environmental liabilities. The Coast Guard has determined that BP could pay up to $4,000 per barrel for the spill, and the EPA has set the fines at up to $4,400 per barrel — an amount that, if the judge rules it’s appropriate, would trigger up to $18 billion in fines for BP. Though BP set aside $43 billion for overall oil spill costs, including cleanup and compensation, it set aside only $3.5 billion for Clean Water Act fines. Israeli settlers have hanged a Palestinian man in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) in another incident of brutality against Palestinians in the occupied territories, local sources say.

Signs of strangulation on Rammouni’s neck as well as signs of violence on his body were apparent, sources said. Continue reading “Israeli settlers execute Palestinian bus driver”

How do you protect your home, retreat or homestead if it is underground or if it is of different design and construction than a regular house? What about improvised shelters in the woods or temporary camps?
Many self-reliant people build homes of unconventional materials such as CONEX container houses, underground houses, earthbag domes or earthship houses to make use of their passive solar features, insulation, low cost, non-flammable properties, or the fact that they provide better hard cover against small arms fire than wood-framed homes. Many readers have also asked about how to defend campsites or improvised wilderness shelters. Continue reading “Survival Defense For Uncommon Shelters”
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An off-duty officer was fatally shot early Sunday at a pub in northeast Ohio after he approached a patron described as “unruly” who was carrying a firearm, police said.
Four other people also were shot at the Papa Don’s Pub in Akron at about 2 a.m., police Chief James Nice told reporters at a news conference. One of the victims was another off-duty police officer who was grazed by a bullet and suffered minor injuries. Three patrons were hospitalized with possibly life-threatening injuries, which Nice described as “significant.” Continue reading “Off-duty police officer fatally shot at Ohio pub”
This kit has been positively associated with the Mercer Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. However, the notorious Ernst Blomberg strikes again, although this kit is believed to be a bit older than most of them.
Most importantly, this is the only kit I am aware of that has undergone some scientific testing for authenticity of age (see below) yielding a mixture of results. Continue reading “Mercer Museum Vampire Killing Kit”

IT’S alive! Well, almost. The first “biological drone”, an autonomous vehicle stitched together largely with materials from living things, made its inaugural flight earlier this month.
Drones have proved invaluable for those who want to explore remote locations, from storm-chasers to the military. But a crash in such a location can not only blot a sensitive environment
, it also lets everyone know that you’ve been spying. A bio-drone could potentially avoid that by degrading away in a puddle of inconspicuous goo. Continue reading “Bio-drone simply melts away when it crashes”

Medical experts are saying that the biggest flaw of Big Pharma today is a high percentage of ineffective products being sold without previous clinical trials. This is particularly true when anti-cancer medications are concerned. The sad fact is that Big Pharma prefers to invest in advertising and bribing officials instead of attempting to make their products truly effective. Today pharmaceutical manufacturing is handsomely funded by politicians and organized crime, since it’s has become one of the most efficient money laundering schemes and has already corrupted a large number of US and EU officials. Although there’s a lot of buzz about marijuana being nonaddictive, the evidence is stacking up that people can — and do — become dependent on the drug. A study released earlier this year, for example, found that 40 percent of marijuana users in an outpatient treatment program showed signs of withdrawal, a classic indicator of addiction. Now, new research in the journal PNAS sheds light on how lighting up changes the brain — and potentially primes people for withdrawal. Continue reading “How marijuana really affects the brain”

The headline is not a mistake. Yes, you can still go to the ATM and withdraw funds. You can take small amounts of cash out of the bank without the IRS seizing everything you own. Last March, I came across a letter written to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney from a paralyzed and dying Iraq war vet named Tomas Young. It touched me to such an extent, that I highlighted it on Liberty Blitzkrieg at the time. He died on Monday, the day before Veterans Day. If you really want to honor our nation’s soldiers, you should read the following and share it.
RIP Tomas Young. Continue reading “Paralyzed Iraq War Veteran’s Writes Last Words To Bush & Cheney”
A Texas woman whose four pit bulls entered her neighbors’ yard through a hole in the fence and killed their 10-year-old beagle is suing them for $1 million.
Emerald White says in her lawsuit filed this week in Galveston County district court that she was “seriously injured” on Oct. 27 trying to stop the attack and retrieve her dogs. She says she suffered “multiple serious bite and scratch-type injuries” and accuses her neighbors of failing to securely confine and restrict their dog, Bailey.
White also contends she’s feeling “conscious pain and suffering and now suffers also from fear, anxiety and trepidation.” Continue reading “Woman Sues Owners of Dog Killed by Her Pit Bulls”
