A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy assigned to handle sensitive sex abuse crimes, often involving vulnerable minors, has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl in a case he was investigating.
Neil Kimball was taken into custody Friday evening after a monthlong inquiry into the allegations by the sheriff’s criminal internal investigation bureau. He was booked on suspicion of rape by force and preventing or dissuading a victim from testifying.
A police officer’s dog killed in the line of duty in Detroit has been hailed as a “hero” by the local mayor and given a full church memorial service, complete with traditional bagpipes.

Police Chief Loren Culp of Republic, Washington, says the gun controls in the newly passed Initiative 1639 will not be enforced in his county.
On September 25, 2018, Breitbart News reported that I-1639 would put in place enhanced background checks for the purchase of semiautomatic rifles, would place a ten-day wait on completion of a semiautomatic rifle sale, and would require purchasers to pass a gun safety course. The initiative also contained new gun storage laws for every type of firearm, including penalties for gun owners whose guns were stolen and used in crimes, among other things. On June 28th, the Washington Examiner headlined “Pence pressed Ecuadorian president on country’s protection of Julian Assange” and reported that “Vice President Mike Pence discussed the asylum status of Julian Assange during a meeting with Ecuador’s leader on Thursday, following pressure from Senate Democrats who have voiced concerns over the country’s protection of the WikiLeaks founder.” Pence had been given this assignment by U.S. President Donald Trump. Officer Gregory Palomo found the baby not breathing and turning blue about 3:22 p.m. Tuesday after police received a 911 call of a woman screaming and crying for medical aid in the street next to a car on Sixth Street near Laney College. A Texas firefighter has been sacked over an inflammatory and ‘racist’ social media post in which he appeared to suggest hunting immigrants along the US border with Mexico.
Chris Bush provoked outrage online when he said people should fill feeders, normally used by hunters to lure deer, with “pinto beans” and place them around the Texas border with Mexico. The former Bellaire and Westfield Fire Department employee appeared to be suggesting that people crossing the border could then be hunted like game. Attorneys for wannabe bomber Patrick Stein are asking a judge to consider the toxic political climate when sentencing their client, who called himself “Orkin Man” and wanted to exterminate Muslim “cockroaches.”
Stein is facing 15 years to life on charges of weapons of mass destruction and conspiracy against civil rights. He was convicted in April alongside two other Kansas militiamen for plotting with an FBI informant and undercover agent to bomb an apartment complex in Garden City, where Muslim refugees from Somalia lived. PITTSBURGH (AP) — The man charged in the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre was brought into court in a wheelchair Monday, as some members of the Jewish community and others objected to President Donald Trump’s plans to visit, accusing him of contributing to a toxic political climate in the U.S. that might have led to the bloodshed.
With the first funerals set for Tuesday, the White House announced that Trump and first lady Melania Trump will visit the same day to “express the support of the American people and to grieve with the Pittsburgh community” over the 11 congregants killed Saturday in the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history. A Pennsylvania prosecutor says he will ask US Attorney General Jeff Sessions to greenlight his request to pursue capital punishment for Robert Bowers, who gunned down worshippers in a Pittsburgh synagogue.
Scott Brady, attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, said he launched a necessary legal procedure so prosecutors will be able to proceed with the maximum possible penalty in the case of Bowers, who has been charged with 29 criminal counts for the murder of 11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh on Saturday. The gunman behind the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, Robert Bowers, was active and outspoken on social media, publishing bizarre posts in which he slammed Jews, diversity, and Donald Trump.
