Nuclear weapons have alternately been blamed for making the world less safe and making it more safe. As a grad school major in national security, I am personally of the opinion that nuclear weapons have kept the great powers from fighting a third and even fourth world war, since those who have them know they cannot “win” an all-out war without sustaining unacceptable damage themselves.

Indeed, good or bad, nuclear weapons became a cornerstone of national security policy during the Cold War, waged between the democratic governments of the West, led by the United States, against the communist and authoritarian governments of the East, led by the former Soviet Union. But did they have to be? What if someone in our own government helped our Cold War rival develop them?   Continue reading “History revisited: Top Roosevelt aide sent Stalin weapons-grade uranium to make bombs”

No action taken yet on Sweeny FID Bill or Fifty Caliber Ban.

This afternoon, Governor Christie announced that he signed 10 of the gun bills on his desk.  Two of those bills are helpful to gun owners, six are neutral in their impact on gun rights as a result of amendments based on gun owner input, and two were opposed by gun owners.   Continue reading “Governor Christie Signs 10 Gun Bills”

The question of what is reasonable under HOA regulations seems to have been answered, at least in the case of The Douglas County Housing Partnership and their reversal of a policy that was set to be imposed by Ross Management Group.

An emergency meeting of the housing authority was called in the wake of the outcry following a new notice to Oakwood Apartments in Castle Rock, Colorado which stipulated that owners would no longer be permitted to have guns in their residence as of October 1, 2013. Does the NSA really operate a vast database that allows its analysts to sift through millions of records showing nearly everything a user does on the Internet, as was recently reported? Yes, and people should stop worrying and learn to love it, according former NSA chief Gen. Michael Hayden.

Last week, the Guardian published a series of leaked documents revealing new details about an NSA surveillance program called XKEYSCORE. The newspaper said that the program enabled the agency to “search with no prior authorization through vast databases containing emails, online chats and the browsing histories of millions of individuals,” and secret slides dated 2008 showed how people could be deemed a target for searching the Web for “suspicious stuff” or by using encryption.   Continue reading “Former NSA Chief on Latest Leaked Dragnet Spy Program: It’s Real, and It’s Spectacular”

When will the breakdown of the system begin?

If you’ve been paying attention, then you’ll likely agree with contrarian economist Jim Willie. The breakdown is happening right here and now – it’s already in progress.

Most Americans haven’t realized it just yet, but everything including our economic, financial, monetary and political systems are in full meltdown mode. It was so bad in 2008, in fact, that Congressional members were warned that if they failed to stabilize the financial system there would be tanks in the streets.   Continue reading “Shortages Are Going to Drive People Out of Their Minds: “That’s When the Riots Will Start””

My intent is to discuss, in a scenario based format, the dilemma posed by the increased risk of armed home invasion and your potential responses to it. Firstly, let me lay out my assumptions for this discussion:

1) Current ‘Law Enforcement’ policy has seen the proliferation of co-called ‘SWAT’ teams. ‘SWAT’ refers to a ‘Special Weapons and Tactics’ Law Enforcement team. However, due to insufficient selection and training for these teams, there is little ‘special’ and ‘tactics’ about them. Thus, for the purpose of this discussion I will be referring to them as ‘Home Invasion Teams’ or HIT teams.     Continue reading “The Home Invasion Dilemma – Discussion & Scenarios”

One of the more surprising news to hit the tape yesterday was that Saudi Arabia, exasperated and desperate by Russia’s relentless support of the Syrian regime and refusal to abandon the Syrian army thus facilitating the Qatari plan to pass its natgas pipeline to Europe under Syria, had quietly approached Putin with a proposal for a huge arms deal and a pledge to boost Russian influence in the Arab world if only Putin would abandon Syria’s Assad.   Continue reading “Putin Laughs At Saudi Offer To Betray Syria In Exchange For “Huge” Arms Deal”

It is an emergency – has been since 11 March 2011 and will continue to be long into the future,” said Shaun Burnie, an independent nuclear consultant.

He says onsite contaminated water contains three times the caesium released from the 1986 Chernobyl accident – the world’s worst nuclear disaster.  “That underscores the scale of this never-ending threat.”       Continue reading “Ground Beneath Fukushima Sinking, Nuke Water Has 3 Times More Cesium Than Chernobyl’s Total Release”

Curious where all that dramatic stock footage of one (or the other) side in the ongoing Egyptian (non-)coup comes from? Apparently quite a bit of it is from repeated takes of the best staged (counter) revolution that Straight-To-YouTube money can buy.

The following clip released by LiveLeak shows a Muslim Brotherhood “demonstration” in Egypt that was specifically staged to get the most dramatic poses, as the actors freeze their poses for the photographers. Injuries and even bloodstains are faked. Which is not to say only the MB is responsible for such drama: what is shown below is a prevalent tactic used across various ideologies and factions around the world to generate sympathy with the naive, gullible and easily influenced “western” audiences who are always willing to accept “reality” at face value.   Continue reading “The Muslim Brotherhood: The Best Straight-To-YouTube Actors Money Can Buy?”

One of the big reasons the U.S. economy is so lousy is that big American companies are hoarding cash and “maximizing profits” instead of investing in their people and future projects.

This behavior is contributing to record income inequality in the country and starving the primary engine of U.S. economic growth — the vast American middle class — of purchasing power. (See charts below).   Continue reading “Sorry, It’s Not A ‘Law Of Capitalism’ That You Pay Your Employees As Little As Possible”

The Internal Revenue Service reportedly received incriminating information on US citizens from the Drug Enforcement Agency, with the assistance of the National Security Agency, before concealing the paper trail from defendants.

Details of a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) program that provides tips to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and then advises them to “recreate the investigative trail” were published in a manual used by IRS agents for two years, Reuters revealed.    Continue reading “IRS gets help from DEA and NSA to collect data”

A government created fear designed to enlist public support for controls, legislation, rules and regulation increasing government power, while reducing individual rights, is called a False Flag Event (FFE). The fear is usually something quite dramatic, like the bombing of Pearl Harbor or the decimation of the World Trade Centers. But, fear can also be insidious, fanning out slowly like carbon monoxide filling an unventilated garage while a motor vehicle is running.  Slow FFEs include promotional agendas regarding some anticipated dramatic violence such as propaganda hyped pandemics, or the eventual nuclear arming of Iran.   Continue reading “Drills, Props and Propaganda Predicting Large Scale False Flag Events”
