At least 215 people were arrested after clashes broke out in Warsaw. Some Polish nationalists, who took to the streets to mark the country’s National Independence Day, threw flares and stones at police. Law enforcers responded with water cannon.

Tens of thousands marched through the Polish capital Tuesday with many carrying the national flag, while flares and firecrackers were also let off. A San Diego police officer can be seen punching a U.S. Marine Corps member who was laying on the ground, then saying he did so out of self-defense, KGTV-TV reported.

Businesses in Ferguson are boarding up their storefronts and residents are purchasing firearms ahead of the grand jury’s decision whether or not to indict the police officer who shot teenager Michael Brown. Many are afraid of what protesters will do if the grand jury’s decision is against their views.

Gun store owners say that sales over the weekend were up drastically. One shop says that on a typical weekend, they’ll have 30 customers. This past weekend; 100. A Saratoga County sheriff’s sergeant abruptly resigned Monday as he was charged with official misconduct and harassment after a video was posted on the Internet over the weekend that purportedly captured him slapping a man whose car he wanted to search.

Sheriff Michael H. Zurlo said his office began an investigation into the actions of Sgt. Shawn R. Glans immediately after they learned the video was posted on the department’s Facebook page around 9 p.m. Friday. The video shows Glans demanding to search the vehicle of a young man, Colin Fitch, who was standing next to the deputy in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store in Halfmoon. Fitch refused to consent to the search as Glans peppered him with expletives and said they could get a search warrant if he didn’t turn over his keys.   Continue reading “Deputy in slap video is charged, steps down”

Let’s examine the ritual of voting, its purpose, and its insanity.

First, a summary of why I don’t vote:   I won’t give anyone permission to rule me, and I don’t have the right to give anyone permission to rule you.   Clear enough?

Imagine a country in which a self-appointed, self-perpetuating dictatorship were to swipe half of what everyone earns, as well as meddling in every aspect of common life.   For the moment, ignore the fact that this could not be imposed on the country by force (due to the armed populace).   What would your attitude be towards such a regime?   Hatred?   Willingness and eagerness to use force to stop them, and/or exterminate them?   Me too.    Continue reading “Why I Don’t Vote”
