China has mined approximately 8% more gold in the first eight months of 2013 than in all of 2012. So far this year China has mined 270.167 tons of the yellow monetary metal. In July alone China dug up an amazing 39.367 tons (annualized that equals 472.404 TONS). Where is it all going? Well, we know from Koos Jansen and Jan Skoyles outstanding work that most, if not all of it is going through the Shanghai Gold Exchange and into one of two vaults; either the vault at the People’s Bank of China or private individuals vaults in China. Drawing a picture of a cartoon-like bomb on a piece of notebook paper and showing it to other kids was reportedly enough to get a special needs student in South Carolina suspended.

A 72-year-old San Francisco man who went missing during a hunting trip in the Mendocino National Forest was found alive after surviving 18 days alone in the woods by eating what he could find, including squirrels, lizards and a snake.

This weekend America witnessed a limited crash in the computer systems that manage electronic benefit transfers across the country. Within hours of the crash panicked food stamp recipients who were left with no way to feed their families rushed grocery store shelves to obtain everything they could while the system was down.
The outage lasted less than a day, but it proved what many already knew, that America had become a nation so dependent on government subsidies that any glitch in the system could lead to total pandemonium.
