The victims were last seen on a surveillance video walking together on a sidewalk on Haven Avenue near West 173rd Street at 7 p.m. Friday — right outside a building that houses Columbia University dental students.    Continue reading “Couple abducted at gunpoint in Washington Heights; witness hears screams & they vanish”

Body modification has taken on vastly different meanings over the years, from wearing makeup and piercing our ears to getting tattoos and going to tanning salons. As the Verge and futurist blog i09 have reported, body modification now even covers “biohackers” who seek to make changes to their bodies so they can gain additional senses.

This new form of body modification may be heading mainstream — and fast. Implants are becoming less taboo, and many have talked to Gizmodo and NPR about the advantages of magnet-studded fingers so they can sense electricity. Medical researchers recently made a prototype of a device that’s implanted under your skin, analyzes your blood concentration, and sends that information to your mobile device. There’s even a Barcelona-based Cyborg Foundation dedicated entirely to the production of new senses.   Continue reading “5 Body Modifications That Can Give You A Sixth Sense”

Retired US Army Captain Terry Michael Hestilow wrote an open letter and posted it to Facebook concerning the recent purchases by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Hestilow directed the letter to Senator John Cornyn. In the letter Hestilow said: “It is with gravest concern that I write to you today concerning the recent appropriation of weapons by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that can only be understood as a bold threat of war by that agency, and the Obama administration, against the citizens of the United States of America. . . . The Obama administration is deliberately defunding, overextending, and hollowing the Department of Defense; the only legitimate agency of the U.S. government with a war mission.”   Continue reading “Are DHS Arming Obama’s Civilian Army With Recent Ammo Purchases?”
