One second everything on the Internet appears normal, and the next thing you know, everyone is talking about some security bug called “Heartbleed” that’s out to get us all. So what is it, and is it as scary of a problem as it seems to be?

To put it simply, it’s a bug that’s existed for two years, recently discovered by researchers at Google and a Finnish security firm called Codenomicon, and it could affect anyone who uses the Internet, so yes, it’s pretty darn worrisome.   Continue reading “What Is This Scary Heartbleed Bug, And Why Is Everyone Freaking Out About It?”

The World Health Organization (WHO) has just released a report from Geneva that in 2012, 7 million people died from air pollution exposure, basically one in eight total global deaths.  It is not known if this report includes the massive eugenic spraying program, climate geo-engineering.  The report goes on to say that air pollution is the world’s largest single environmental health risk.

The new data reveals that “pollution, whether inside or outside, increases cardiovascular (heart) disease, cancer, respiratory disease including sinusitis, acute respiratory infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD).  These diseases are now known collectively as non-communicable diseases which strike the young and elderly with veracity.  The results were determined by improved technology, measurements, new global mapping, satellite imagery, and surveillance.   Continue reading “7 Million Premature Deaths Linked to ‘Air Pollution’”

If you listen very carefully, you will still hear absolutely nothing from any talking-heads of the utter collapse that the last few weeks have witnessed in the Baltic Dry shipping index. The Baltic Dry has dropped 12 days in a row and plunged back to $1061 – its lowest since August 2013. This is the worst start to a year on record… must be the weather.   Continue reading “Baltic Dry Collapses To Worst Start To A Year On Record”

It should be no surprise that people have so much trouble staying on diets, or that obesity in the Western world continues soaring beyond all prior records.

New research into the neurological effects of junk food consumption is increasingly confirming that eating sugary, high-fat foods produces exactly the same effects as taking street drugs like heroin, with predictably similar results.   Continue reading “Junk food can be as addictive as heroin”

On July 9, 2013, a bill to recognize Illinois gun owners’ right to carry concealed firearms was passed by both chambers of the state Legislature. Illinois became the last state in the nation to allow public possession of concealed guns.

Gun control advocates warned that high-crime areas, like Chicago, would only see more violence if residents were allowed to carry guns in public.   Continue reading “Here’s What Happened to Crime in Chicago After Illinois Finally Passed Concealed Carry Law”

President Obama’s unilateral move Tuesday to try to close the pay gap between the sexes will force federal contractors to tell the government what their employees earn, broken down by race and sex, giving the administration extraordinary new powers to pursue discrimination cases.

One legal analyst said the two orders Mr. Obama issued would drive up the costs of federal contracts, leaving taxpayers stuck with higher bills. Businesses feared the orders would lay ground for the government to take legal action against them.   Continue reading “Obama’s equal pay mandate gives feds extraordinary new spying powers”

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has inserted himself into the escalating standoff between cattle rancher Cliven Bundy and federal officials by blasting the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over their creation of a ‘First Amendment Area’ outside of which free speech is banned.

The ‘First Amendment Area’ set up by BLM agents is a crudely taped off piece of land inside which supporters of Bundy, who is engaged in a long running dispute with feds over grazing rights on a 600,000 acre expanse in northeastern Clark County, are allowed to express their free speech.   Continue reading “Nevada Governor Blasts Feds’ ‘First Amendment Area’ in Bundy Dispute”

Several weeks ago we reported that in response to ongoing alienation of Russia by the west Putin was aggressively setting the stage for Russia’s eastward expansion, set to culminate with a “holy grail” gas deal with China. We said that “while Europe is furiously scrambling to find alternative sources of energy should Gazprom pull the plug on natgas exports to Germany and Europe (the imminent surge in Ukraine gas prices by 40% is probably the best indication of what the outcome would be), Russia is preparing the announcement of the “Holy Grail” energy deal with none other than China, a move which would send geopolitical shockwaves around the world and bind the two nations in a commodity-backed axis.”   Continue reading “Russia And China About To Sign “Holy Grail” Gas Deal”
