Never in a million years would people think Bill Nye “the Science Guy” — who once questioned genetically modified foods and urged against them — would declare his love for altering genes. Yet after a meeting with the agricultural biotech giant, he announced that he was going to update the chapter about GMOs in his book, Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation.

“I went to Monsanto and I spent a lot of time with the scientists there and I have revised my outlook and I’m very excited about telling the world,” says Nye.   Continue reading “National Geographic is the propaganda arm of Monsanto, the world’s most evil corporation”

As even the casual observer of the effects from the corporatist model for economic commerce knows, permanence in a developing prosperity is transient at best. What becomes the rush to ratchet up industrial production ends up in a piercing disappointment for long term stability. China is the latest example of a corporatist model in serious trouble. And who will suffer the most? Those dependent on export manufacturing are clearly poised for a very bumpy ride. While the oligarchs play global chess with their foreign companies, the enterprise of creating a rise in world-wide wealth suffers.   Continue reading “Chinese Corporatism Turns Sour”

The Marine Corps is notorious for fielding outdated equipment – some of which can be as many as 30 years old. When the United States invaded Iraq in 2003, Marine snipers carried the M40A1 sniper rifles, many of which were introduced shortly after the end of the Vietnam War.

The Marines currently use a newer variant of the M40 as its primary sniper rifle – and it still shoots roughly the same distance it did 12 years ago: 1,000 yards.   Continue reading “US Marines: Our Sniper Rifles Are Outdated on the Battlefield”

The government of Venezuela is playing Monopoly, but it isn’t the kind with those little plastic hotels.

They’re controlling essential goods like food, and putting the retail establishments of the country out of business.

According to a UK Telegraph report, the government is now forcing farmers and food manufacturers to sell anywhere from 30-100% of their products to the state, as opposed to stores and supermarkets.   Continue reading “Government of Venezuela Forces Farmers to Hand Over Food”

Look, Microsoft. Just because I am Facebook friends with someone, doesn’t mean I want to share my wifi passwords with them.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happens by default in Windows 10. Anyone who I’m Outlook.com contacts with (spammers), Skype friends with (webcam strippers), or Facebook friends with (high school buddies turned webcam strippers) can connect to wifi networks that I have the password for.   Continue reading “Why the Hell Is Windows 10 Sharing My Wifi Passwords?”

As many as 150 refugees are arriving every day, swelling the population of a camp that is already bursting with desperate migrants trying to cross the Channel.

The crisis has sparked a high-level border alert as 10,000 migrants could try to make their way into Britain by the end of August, it was claimed over the weekend.

However, it is also having a devastating impact on British holidaymakers trying to go to France, with ferry operator DFDS Seaways yesterday suspending all services between the two ports until tomorrow.   Continue reading “UK border alert as 10,000 migrants mass in Calais as crisis reaches desperate levels”
