There’s a reason they held this turkey until Friday night — it’s ugly.

The report also clarifies three things about the critical wounding of transit cop Richard “Dic” Donohue, Jr:

  1. Another cop did it;
  2. It’s a miracle he was the only cop wounded; and,
  3. They’re still trying to cover it up, and protect the cop who did it.

Go ask Alice! Well, how much does she really know? If you think this gal plays with Easter Bunnies, you got the wrong broad . . . In today’s world the fond nostalgia of innocence in the 60’s is relegated to those who lived during the “beat goes on” generation. Most self-righteous detractors of that era want to carp that the youth were hippies and were nothing more than narcissists, consumed with self indulgence. Better that they would have been yuppies and tax payers . . . follow the rules and salute the flag.

How many times have you heard this crowd of defamers, mock and condemn what they neither understand nor cherish? The irony that many of the most vocal critics are the very children of the radical generation, depicts the sorry condition of contemporary society.   Continue reading “The White Rabbit becomes Rabid”

The room was full of pregnant women with their husbands.

The instructor said, “Ladies, remember that exercise is good for you. Walking is especially beneficial. It strengthens the pelvic muscles and will make delivery that much easier. Just pace yourself, make plenty of stops and try to stay on a soft surface like grass or a path. ”

“Gentlemen, remember — you’re in this together. It wouldn’t hurt you to go walking with her. In fact, that shared experience would be good for you both.”   Continue reading “Walking on grass”

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA)  said Californians will face heavy fines for taking long showers.

Brown said, “This executive order is done under emergency power. It has the force of law. Very unusual. It’s requiring action and changes in behavior from the Oregon border all the way to the Mexican border. It affects lawns. It affects people’s — how long they stay in the shower. How businesses use water.”   Continue reading “Gov Jerry Brown: Californians To Be Heavily Fined For Long Showers”

While Oregon Democrats stood with Gabby Giffords and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence to push expanded background checks on April 1, Grant County Sheriff Glenn Palmer stood for the law-abiding citizens whom the checks will target by describing the gun control push as “borderline treasonous.”

Palmer also made clear that if the Democrats pass the measure there is zero chance of his office enforcing it.   Continue reading “Oregon Sheriff: Gun Control Push ‘Borderline Treasonous,’ Will Not Enforce”

Florida’s Big Sugar has found that if you can’t lure people to your side of a controversy by using facts, a little money can do the trick. A group protesting a proposed purchase of environmentally sensitive Everglades land from U.S. Sugar Corporation was found to be actors from a nearby theater group.   Continue reading “Sugar Company Hires Actors to Protest against Florida Land Deal”

Last week, lovers of rice rejoiced when the Washington Post reported on a simple trick to improve the nutritional value of the food. According to researchers in Sri Lanka, all you have to do is add a fat (they used coconut oil) to the cooking water, cool your rice over night, and voilà!—up to to 50 percent of the calories (a cup of rice contains about 200 when cooked conventionally) are gone.

It works by converting the white rice—which made mostly of digestible starch—into one that is indigestible, or “resistant,” meaning that it’s eventually excreted instead of metabolized by our bodies. The researchers found that adding fat and then allowing the rice to cool changed the composition even after the rice was reheated.   Continue reading “Why Leftover Pasta Might Be Healthier Than Fresh”

This probably goes without saying, but marijuana is a controversial topic — although opinion toward the substance, which is illegal at the moment, has been swaying toward legalization for the past decade.

On one side of the aisle the idea of legalizing marijuana and reaping tax and medical benefits could make sense. Sweeping marijuana legalization across the country, according to NerdWallet, could bring in more than $3 billion in revenue annually. While this isn’t going to put a huge dent in the national deficit, it is sizable enough to potentially ensure that some state and federal employees get to keep their jobs.   Continue reading “Uh-Oh! This Lawsuit Could Mean the End of Legal Marijuana”

Russian scientists have created a new biological material they called “bone cement”, which after 3D printing into a fracture or a crack, completely dissolves over time, while in its place the human body regenerates the missing part of the bone tissue.

The new substance based on biological hydroxyapatite was created by scientists of the Russian National Research Nuclear University’s affiliate in the Siberian city of Seversk, Tomsk region.   Continue reading “Russian scientists create ‘bio-cement’ for human bones”

In a report issued by a U.S. government-funded research group tasked with studying drug abuse and addiction, researchers are admitting that marijuana is useful in killing off specific types of brain tumors.

The report — coming from a government-backed group with annual budget of over $1 billion — arrives at an awkward time for the administration following an announcement by the Department of Justice this week that it will continue to prosecute medical marjiuana cases against individuals in defiance of Congress.   Continue reading “Feds Admit Medical Pot Works on Brain Tumors — but They’re Going After Users Anyway”

Crows are believed to be among the most intelligent, if not the smartest of birds. But what happened to an 8-year-old girl in Seattle, Washington shows that, unlike so many humans, crows recognize and are grateful for acts of kindness.

It all began in 2011 when Gabi Mann first drew the attention of neighborhood crows. She was four years old and prone to dropping food. She’d get out of the car, and a chicken nugget would tumble off her lap. A crow would rush in to recover it. Soon, the crows were watching for her, hoping to catch the morsels of food that Gabi would drop.   Continue reading “Grateful crows bring gifts to girl who feeds them”

Ghost Hunting Theories

120 feet long and 1168 tons

Only partially completed, but showed signs of being over 1200 tons and 137 feet when done. How was this obelisk in Northern Egypt created and how would they have raised or move this? These are just some of the questions baffling everyone.

Best guess include the use of hard stones or chisels to split the rock and wooden wedges shoved into it and water added. Wet wood could swell and create pressure.    Continue reading “Enormous Obelisk Found: Baffles Researchers”

(Doug Mataconis)  Louisiana businesses are suddenly discovering a new law that flew under the radar during the last legislative session:

Cold hard cash. It’s good everywhere you go, right? You can use it to pay for anything.

But that’s not the case here in Louisiana now. It’s a law that was passed during this year’s busy legislative session. Continue reading “Louisiana Makes It Illegal To Use Cash To Buy Used Goods”
