US President Barack Obama urged Philippine leader Rodrigo Duterte Thursday to conduct his crime war “the right way”, as the pair clashed at an Asian summit over the crackdown that has claimed 3,000 lives.

The showdown was a fitting climax to a brutal few days of diplomacy that began with the famously acid-tongued Duterte branding Obama a “son of a whore”.   Continue reading “Obama, Duterte clash over brutal crime war”

Jury selection/rejection began Wednesday, September 07, 2016, in Portland, Oregon, for the Bundy trial. I am not surprised to read accounts of the judge’s bias against jury nullification. The Oregonian/OregonLive website posted an article which quotes a few of judge Anna J. Brown’s opinions about protecting the government’s assumed power to railroad defendants. <active link: http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-standoff/2016/09/oregon_standoff_trial_for_ammo.html >   Continue reading “Jury Selection In Bundy Trial Already Rigged”

Caterpillar is firing 300 American employees in Mossville, Illinois, even though it is continuing torecruit and pay foreign “H-1B” guest-workers to do the white-collar jobs sought by American professionals in the United States.

Caterpillar’s combination of white-collars layoffs and H-1B outsourcing matches the much-criticized decision by Carrier, a company in next-door Indiana, to outsource 1,400 blue-collar factory jobs to Mexico.   Continue reading “Caterpillar Hires H-1B Foreign Graduates, Fires 300 American Professionals”

For years we have wondered why Wells Fargo, America’s largest mortgage lender, is also Warren Buffett’s favorite bank. Now we know why.

On Thursday, Wells Fargo was fined $185 million, (including a $100 million penalty from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the largest penalty the agency has ever issued) for engaging in pervasive fraud over the years which included opening credit cards secretly without a customer’s consent, creating fake email accounts to sign up customers for online banking services, and forcing customers to accumulate late fees on accounts they never even knew they had. Regulators said such illegal sales practices had been going on since at least 2011.   Continue reading “Wells Fargo Fires 5,300 For Engaging In Massive Fraud, Creating Over 2 Million Fake Accounts”

North Korea says it now has the power to mount a nuclear warhead on ballistic missiles that could be aimed at its enemies after conducting its biggest nuclear test yet, an explosion compared to the Hiroshima blast.

Let’s very quickly put aside the major crimes that Hillary Clinton has committed.

We’ll put aside the “potential violations of [Espionage Act] statutes” – Director Comey’s words, not mine.

We’ll put aside the thousands of violations of the Federal Records Act and the Freedom of Information Act from when Hillary and her staff destroyed government records.   Continue reading “18 USC § 1001 – Making False Statements”

On Sept. 2, the FBI released a lengthy explanation of its investigation of Hillary Clinton and a summary of the evidence amassed against her. It also released a summary of Clinton’s July FBI interrogation.

The interrogation was in some respects standard and in others very troubling. It was standard in that she was confronted with emails she had sent or received and was asked whether she recalled them, and her judgment about them was challenged. The FBI was looking for gross negligence in her behavior about securing state secrets.   Continue reading “Hillary Clinton and the FBI”

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have issued a joint bulletin to law enforcement nationwide advising vigilance of civilian facilities as possible targets by ISIS inspired terrorists, CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton reported.

The bulletin, sent out on Aug. 31, said analysis indicates that homegrown violent extremists, and ISIS inspired terrorists, appear to have shifted their focus to target attacks on civilian venues. These sorts of venues include places like restaurants, theaters, churches, and sports arenas, with less focus on law enforcement, military and government facilities.   Continue reading “FBI, DHS issue advisory to law enforcement on possible terror targets”

LAPLACE, La. — It made national news last month when an undocumented immigrant with no driver’s license and a history of poor driving got behind the wheel of a chartered bus and crashed into a Louisiana highway accident scene, killing a local fire chief and a Mississippi man.

The person who arranged for the bus to take a crew of at least 24 workers to flood cleanup work in the Baton Rouge area also was an undocumented immigrant with a troubled history, but lots of paperwork to establish his legitimacy as a businessman.   Continue reading “Recruiter for firm involved in fatal La. bus wreck in U.S. illegally”

As if the world couldn’t get any crazier, the committee in charge of nominating prospective recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize has recently nominated a terrorist organization for the award. The White Helmets, the notorious mop-up wing of Nusra (Jobhat al-Nusra or Jobhat Fatah al-Sham) will now be in the running for not only the cash prize that comes with winning the Nobel but also the undeserved and cult-like appreciation of winners  as if, in some parallel universe, the award was actually given to people who promote peace.[1]  Continue reading “Terrorist Support Group Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize”

A key Federal Election Commission Republican warned Wednesday that liberals are moving aggressively to “amend the First Amendment” so that conservatives are silenced and businesses are chased “out of the democracy.”

In some the toughest criticism leveled at Democrats, Commissioner Lee E. Goodman said that the attack started once the Tea Party changed American politics in the 2010 election and now dominates the politics of the Left.   Continue reading “FEC commissioner warns Dems are gunning for conservative media”
