President Barack Obama says Americans are so uninterested in the rest of the world because they are “lazy” and don’t feel like knowing about “other people.” His remarks have not gone unnoticed at home, where angered Americans suggested he stay abroad.

“[…] We are such a big country we haven’t always had to know about other parts of the world,” Obama told a Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) town hall. “If you are in Laos, you need to know about Thailand and China and Cambodia, because you are a small country and they are right next door and you need to know who they are.”   Continue reading “Obama says Americans too ‘lazy’ to explore the world, triggers backlash at home”

Under the $1.5-$2 billion revamp plan, three dedicated marine terminals would be added to the Strategic Petroleum (SPR), a string of 60 heavily-guarded underground caverns on the Texas and Louisiana coasts.   Continue reading “U.S. advances oil reserve revamp plan, potential crude sale”

Star chamber defined: “In modern usage, legal or administrative bodies with strict, arbitrary rulings and secretive proceedings are sometimes called, metaphorically or poetically, star chambers. This is a pejorative term and intended to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the proceedings.”

In the American justice system, defendants used to have the right to a speedy trial before their peers. With rare exception, court proceedings were open, so the public could quietly observe hearings and trials. Public records — meaning any records about an American citizen collected by a public body — could be openly examined by any interested party. Today, these rights designed to protect individuals and inform the public are blatantly ignored with alarming frequency.   Continue reading “Update on Alleged LAX TSA Shooter Paul Ciancia”
