CARACAS, Venezuela — It’s not so easy to find someone who still uses a wallet in Venezuela, where inflation is expected to reach 720 percent this year and the biggest bill — 100 bolivars — is worth about 5 U.S. cents on the black market.

The currency has dropped dramatically in value as Venezuela’s oil-based economy has cratered and the government has frantically printed more money. Prices, meanwhile, are soaring. So Venezuelans must handle huge volumes of cash — so much that the bills don’t always fit in a standard wallet — with many people packing wads of currency in handbags, money belts or backpacks.   Continue reading “Venezuela’s currency is so devalued it no longer fits in ordinary wallets”

The Obama administration is preparing to give the middle finger to the American electorate by ignoring the results of the recently held election and continuing with Obama’s efforts to “transform” America.

The president has been unable to effect much transformation via Congress, so he has once again picked up his pen and is readying a dizzying array of new regulations from a dozen different agencies that will massively increase the burden on American business.   Continue reading “Obama to Push Nearly 100 New Regulations Before Leaving Office”

ONE OF THE MANY alarming facts that came to light with the release of the executive summary of the Senate Torture Report in 2014 was that the Justice Department’s Bureau of Prisons had sent a “delegation of several officers” to Afghanistan to conduct an assessment an infamous CIA detention site and concluded the CIA “did not mistreat the detainees.”

Senate investigators found that the bureau officers visited a detention site code-named Cobalt north of Kabul in November 2002. That site — also known as the Salt Pit — has become infamous for the brutal torture inflicted on detainees there, including rectal exams conducted with “excessive force.” According to Senate investigators, the CIA’s own employees described the facility as “a dungeon,” where detainees “cowered” as interrogators opened the door and “looked like a dog that had been kenneled.”   Continue reading “Newly Released Documents Confirm Bureau of Prisons Visit to CIA Torture Site in Afghanistan”

Philadelphia, PA — In the last three years, the city of Philadelphia has not charged a single cop in the 116 officer-involved shootings that have taken place. However, all that has now changed after Philadelphia police officer Dorion Young made the decision to shoot his own 19-year-old son in his back because the teen had ‘disrespected him.’

The incident happened on Labor Day of this year as the 25-year veteran of the Philly Police department started an argument with his oldest son, Devine, over “perceived disrespect he felt about the use of the family car,” according to District Attorney Seth Williams.   Continue reading “Philly Cop Charged For Shooting His Unarmed Teen Son in the Back”

For all of Donald Trump’s words about going against the Washington establishment, his pick for deputy national security adviser makes much of that null and void.

President-elect Trump has tapped K.T. McFarland for deputy national security adviser, who is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and former aide to Henry Kissinger during the Nixon administration. More recently, she has plied her trade as a talking head on Fox News, which regularly pushes the narrative of U.S. military hegemony and keeps Americans in a state of fear over terrorism.   Continue reading “Trump Appoints CFR Member and Former Kissinger Aide to Top Advisory Position”

Mainstream, corporate media has launched a dangerous and slanderous campaign to label any news outlet not spewing accepted governmental narrative as professional Russian propagandists — and those unaware they’d apparently been duped by Russia, “useful idiots.”

Ordinarily, the complete dearth of proof this claim has even a shred of truth would cause a reflexive eye roll — but in this case, the American exceptionalist machine behind the supposed analysis calls for FBI and Department of Justice to investigate possible violations of Espionage Act.   Continue reading “If You Question the Establishment You Are Guilty of Espionage, Says Corporate Media — Because Russia”
