Albuquerque, NM — Earlier this month, the Sunspot Solar Observatory in New Mexico mysteriously shut down without warning and under a shroud of secrecy. The local police were not informed about the nature of the FBI investigation which caused conspiracy theories to abound.

Then, on Sunday, a statement from the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), the group who runs the observatory, suddenly released the reason for the investigation, noting that it was “criminal” and the site was closed over concerns for “the safety of local staff and residents.”   Continue reading “FBI Finally Release Reason for Evacuating New Mexico Solar Observatory, It was Over Child Porn”

Vegan advocacy nonprofit People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is demanding that the University of Nebraska at Lincoln part ways with its longstanding tradition of releasing party balloons at university football games.

PETA started an online petition to ban the balloons, alleging that they are “an environmental hazard and can travel vast distances before finally bursting and falling to the ground or into bodies of water.” The school has released thousands of balloons after its first touchdown at home football games, for the past 50 years.   Continue reading “PETA demands university ban football game balloons”

Twice in less than a year, the federal government has lost track of nearly 1,500 migrant children after placing them in the homes of sponsors across the country, federal officials have acknowledged.

The Health and Human Services Department recently told Senate staffers that case managers could not find 1,488 children after they made follow-up calls to check on their safety from April through June. That number represents about 13 percent of all unaccompanied children the administration moved out of shelters and foster homes during that time.  Continue reading “Federal agency says it lost track of 1,488 migrant children”

WEB Notes: You know, I actually cracked a grin about this one. I have heard very, very little talk about the trillons of dollars pumped into the system or the artifically low interest rates that have existed for 10 years. I rant and rave about it fairly often, but not many other people; news organizations, etc seem to bring it up…

Instead they think the government made the economy great. Continue reading “Bank Of America Merrill Lynch: The ‘Great Bull’ Market Is ‘Dead’”

Predictive technology is exploding. The arrival of Big Data initiatives by government, as well as a massive industry of data brokers is not only putting privacy at risk, but is offering those with access to the information unprecedented ways to micromanage our lives.

Over the last few years, I’ve covered the arrival of full-on pre-crime police tech (both public and secret) that is beginning to target potential hotspots for crime, as well as to put certain individuals on lists created by artificial intelligence to identify supposed future criminals.   Continue reading “Child Protective Services Wants Artificial Intelligence To Predict Child Abuse”

Horry County, SC — Two women, who were mental health patients under the care of Horry County, have tragically been killed while in police custody as they were being moved to a different facility on Tuesday. They were chained in the back of a police van and drowned after the van drove into flood waters.

While original reports claimed that the women were inmates, it was later clarified that they were actually patients—which raises the question of why they were in chains in the back of the van.   Continue reading “Two Female Mental Health Patients Drowned While Chained in a Police Van As Cops Get Saved”
