MORGANTON, NC — A former Lieutenant with the Burke County Narcotics Task Force has been indicted for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars in drug funds.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — A gunman killed five people, including his wife, before turning the gun on himself as a Kern County sheriff’s deputy closed in Wednesday, authorities said.

The illegal alien charged with murdering 20-year-old college student Mollie Tibbetts has reportedly been granted $5,000 in American taxpayer dollars to fight the first-degree murder charges against him.

Despite the fact that major storms can leave communities devastated and vulnerable to criminal acts in the aftermath like looting, one North Carolina city is acting to prevent its citizens from defending themselves if Hurricane Florence, now bearing down on the state, makes landfall and wreaks havoc.
As reported by The Gun Feed, the Firearms Policy Coalition and Firearms Policy Foundation announced Tuesday that both organizations sent a pre-litigation demand letter to the Town of Leland, N.C., whose officials have banned “some lawful and constitutionally protected firearm-related conduct in advance” of the hurricane. Chase, a German shepherd police K-9 with the Wilkes-Barre department, was deployed to chase a burglary suspect Tuesday when the dog chomped down on the leg of a cop, instead.

A new law went into effect at the start of this month that allows police to seize firearms from suspected domestic abusers at the scene of an arrest.
“These are times that an abuser or a perpetrator is going to feel the most threatened, and it may be the time they are most likely to use a weapon at their disposal,” said Avaloy Lanning, executive director of NewStory Center, a domestic violence shelter in Rutland.
