ZURICH (Reuters) – Austrian authorities have suspended inoculations with a batch of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine as a precaution while investigating the death of one person and the illness of another after the shots, a health agency said on Sunday.

“The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) has received two reports in a temporal connection with a vaccination from the same batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the district clinic of Zwettl” in Lower Austria province, it said. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the deployment of the state’s National Guard and State Troopers to respond to the growing border crisis.

Governor Abbott announced Operation Lone Star “to combat the smuggling of people and drugs into Texas” on Saturday. The operation will integrate the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) with the National Guard, Abbott said. Creighton University, a small college in Nebraska, suspended its men’s basketball coach for using the word “plantation” while delivering a morale-boosting speech to his team.

Days before the school’s basketball season is set to end, Creighton suspended basketball coach Greg McDermott for using the word “plantation” during a motivational speech delivered to the team after losing an important game. From the context alone, it appears obvious that McDermott did not appear to use the term in a racially divisive way. Supermarket chain Kroger opened its first automated warehouse in Bulter County, Ohio, last week, reported Hamilton JournalNews.
