The US has barred American pilots and low flying planes from going into Venezuela indefinitely following opposition leader Juan Guaido’s failed coup, citing “increasing political instability and tensions.”

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an “international security” notice barring all US pilots and US-registered aircraft from flying lower than 26,000ft (about 5 miles) over Venezuela, claiming the ongoing struggle between the US-backed opposition and President Nicolas Maduro’s government creates an “inadvertent risk to flight operations.” While it’s unclear how the situation in the air has changed, the order applies indefinitely going forward, “until further advised.”   Continue reading “US bars American pilots and low-flying planes from Venezuelan airspace”

The accused Southern California synagogue shooter made his first appearance in court on Tuesday where prosecutors said he fired only eight to 10 of the roughly 60 bullets he had before his weapon jammed.

Cuba’s government-run Radio Reloj website published a commentary Monday referring to American National Security Advisor John Bolton as a “warlock” and “neo-Nazi” for his opposition to the communist Castro regime.

The column, titled “John Bolton: Sinister Godfather of Helms-Burton,” appeared to be an attempt at a biographical feature in the context of the Trump administration allowing lawsuits against corporations that profit from property stolen from Americans during the Cuban Revolution. Americans have a right to sue over these properties as a product of the 1996 Libertad Act, known commonly as the Helms-Burton bill for its authors.
