More police officers were killed by attackers in 2018 than in 2017, but it’s still, fortunately, a very rare occurrence according to FBI statistics released this week.
In all, 106 law enforcement officers were killed during the line of duty last year. Of those, 55 were killed by felonious attacks, and 51 died a result of accidents. A settlement in a seven-year-long legal battle between the House and the Justice Department over records related to a gun-running investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious was publicly announced Wednesday just as similar clashes continue to intensify between the House and the Trump administration.
The deal ends a civil suit the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee filed in 2012 following the House’s historic vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for refusing to release some records the panel demanded about the probe, during which law enforcement officials monitored but did not intervene as up to 2000 weapons were illegally sold. Hundreds gathered at an outdoor college fundraiser in downtown Sacramento Friday evening; residents were abruptly interrupted when a drone buzzed overhead and dropped Nazi propaganda flyers, reported The State Hornet.

Although no motive has been found for the murderous high school rampage committed by 18-year-old Devon Erickson yesterday, he posted many messages on social media indicating his hatred of Christians and love of the LGBT agenda.

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday voted to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over an unredacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and President Trump’s efforts to obstruct the probe.

Denver is poised to become the first city in the nation to effectively decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms.
After trailing in results postings Tuesday night and early Wednesday, final unofficial results posted late in the afternoon showed a reversal of fortune — with Initiative 301 set to pass narrowly with 50.6 percent of the vote. The Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr. to answer questions about his previous testimony before Senate investigators in relation to the Russia investigation, sources with direct knowledge told Axios.
Why it matters: It’s the first congressional subpoena — that we know about — of one of President Trump’s children. The subpoena sets up a fight that’s unprecedented in the Trump era: A Republican committee chair pit against the Republican president’s eldest son.

Flash flooding has killed at least one person and prompted evacuations, road closures, school closings and rescues in Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma as storms trek across the Midwest and southern Plains.
The severe weather may also be responsible for a fire that broke out at a natural gas refinery in Columbia County, Arkansas, Wednesday evening. KSLA News reported the fire was caused by a lightning strike. A dispatcher for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office told weather.com that firefighters were on the scene but no other information was available. A portion of US Highway 371 was reportedly closed as they battled the blaze. Two gunmen opened fire at a suburban Denver STEM school on Tuesday, killing one student and injuring eight others. The incident happened less than 10 miles from Columbine High School, which recently mourned the anniversary of its school shooting 20 years ago.
Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said in a news conference that two suspects — 18-year-old Devon Erickson and an unidentified female juvenile — have been apprehended in the shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch, which includes grades K-12. Both suspects are believed to be students at the school. The second suspect was initially identified by authorities as a juvenile male. Paul Ryan is front and center once again, calling for cuts in Medicare and food stamps. Ryan said that spending on food stamps had increased by 40% in the last four years, trying to put forth the notion that those on food stamps are getting 40% more than they were four years ago.
The fact is the increase in spending is due to the increase in those who have been forced onto food stamps because the corporate elitists that own Paul Ryan exported their jobs through NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT. The truth is the amount the individual food stamp recipient receives has been decreased by 30% in the last four years due to a 30% decline in the value of the dollar.
