Green Med Info – by Kelly Brogan, M.D.

With 1 in 5 Americans taking a psychiatric medication, most of whom, long term, we should probably start to learn a bit more about them. In fact, it would have been in the service of true informed consent to have investigated long-term risks before the deluge of these meds seized our population over the past thirty years.

You may be unaware of a literature that suggests long-term treatment with all psychiatric medications is more likely to leave you with a lesser quality of life. Here’s one more reason to reconsider life partnership with your psychiatric medication – it may contribute to your cancer risk. Art has become incredibly versatile these days. Canvases are no longer what they used to be. Now, artists look beyond the ordinary and find a way to turn it into something extraordinary. One such artist is Akie Nakata who creatively turns stones into cute little animals. But this is no easy task. For Akie, it is more than just painting on a stone. She strives to bring out the living being that she feels in the stone and proceeds carefully. First, she considers where she is positioning the backbone. She also states that it is the stone that determines what she paints on it. Her goal? To paint the life, the living spirit of the being she feels inside the stone. Take a look:    Continue reading “This Incredible Art Is Painted on Stones”

Five former chiefs of the Mossad spy agency leveled harsh criticism at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week, with one saying that Israel was “dangerously sick” under his leadership.

An important bill died in the legislature this year, “An Act Prohibiting Female Genital Mutilation.” Senate Bill 190 would have made it a Class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison, to perform female genital mutilation on a person under 18.

FGM is outlawed federally, and 26 other states in the United States also ban it. Connecticut needs to join them to put this terrible practice on the radar of schools, clinics, courts and police. Connecticut lawmakers need a zero-tolerance law banning FGM to protect young women and girls.   Continue reading “A Law Against Female Genital Mutilation”

Within two weeks Russia will deliver to Damascus an S-300 air defense system, previously suspended on a request by Israel. It comes as part of response to the downing of a Russian Il-20 plane amid an Israeli air raid on Syria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the defense ministry to take several measures in response to the incident, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.  Continue reading “Russia to supply S-300 to Syria within 2 weeks after Il-20 downing during Israeli raid – MoD”
