JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife, Sara, appeared in court on Sunday for the first hearing in the fraud trial against her, in which she is alleged to have misused state funds in ordering catered meals.

From Fredericksburg last night, as reported in the wee hours this morning, 50 bobtail trucks convoyed up I-95 and into downtown D.C., lining wide gravel walking paths along the National Mall between 4th and 7th streets, facing the Capitol Building. Inside, attention was no doubt focused on prospects for the nomination of Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh, as it has been for weeks now, though plenty participants among owner-operators here did manage to take meetings with their reps and Senators, and more meetings are sure to follow.

Mattress Firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Friday and is expected to close a little more than 200 stores as soon as the next few days.

The largest mattress retailer in the U.S. has roughly 3,500 locations today. It hopes to restructure its business in bankruptcy court and get out of many unwanted leases. One of the nation’s largest gun suppliers has donated nine semi-automatic AR-15 rifles to school resources officers in Bismarck, North Dakota, helping police in the state’s capital fulfill a request for additional firepower to protect students.

In August, the Bismarck Police Department submitted a budget proposal that included nearly $26,000 to purchase new rifles, gun safes, bulletproof vests and medical kits to treat gunshot wounds. The cost was supposed to be split evenly between the school district and police department, but the county said it wouldn’t pay for the AR-15s themselves, according to The Bismarck Tribune. E.R. Beaches owns three Hemptations stores in the Cincinnati area and one in Dayton. He says he’s been selling CBD oil products for going on seven years.

CHICAGO (AP) — A jury on Friday convicted white Chicago police Officer Jason Van Dyke of second-degree murder in the 2014 shooting of black teenager Laquan McDonald.

Van Dyke was charged with first degree-murder in the October 2014 killing, a charge that requires a finding that the shooting was unnecessary and unreasonable. Residents in central California may hear some really loud booms Sunday night accompanied by odd bright lights, but it’s nothing to fear, the Air Force says.
