SANDY, Utah — Utah investigators and stunned residents of a middle-class Salt Lake City suburb are trying to understand what led a man to open fire on a woman and children inside a car, leaving the woman, a boy and the man himself dead and two other children injured.

Having legalized recreational cannabis in its historic 2016 ballot initiative, the most populous U.S. state is not done challenging federal prohibition. California lawmakers have passed a bill that would prohibit cops in the state from helping the feds carry out their war on people and the cannabis plant.

Witch hazel has a long, impressive history as an anti-inflammatory, topical extract useful for skin toning, cleaning, calming and healing. The first successful mass-produced American skincare product, debuted in 1846, was “Golden Treasure,” later renamed Pond’s Cold Cream. It was based on wild-harvested witch hazel, which company chemists learned about from Native Americans in New York state.

In the ongoing diplomatic crisis between Qatar and its Gulf/Arab peers, which is either the result of Saudi nat gas envy or – for those who watch CNN – Russian hacking, Turkey has emerged as a vocal supporter of the small but wealthy state. On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Erdogan defended Qatar, saying he personally would have intervened if accusations that the tiny Gulf emirate supports “terrorism” were true and said he intends to “develop” ties with the embattled Gulf state hit by sanctions from Saudi Arabia and its allies. Eric Trump is slamming a Forbes report that alleges his charity, the Eric Trump Foundation, has been funneling donations — from donors who believed the money was going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital — to the Trump Organization by paying high sums for use of Trump properties during fundraisers and re-donating some funds to charities friendly with Trump interests.
Forbes reported Tuesday that the Eric Trump Foundation paid the Trump family business hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last seven years for use of one of the organization’s golf courses, funds which he claimed were being donated nearly in full to the children’s cancer charity. Cigarette wholesalers are lobbying Massachusetts state lawmakers to support legislation that would force a soon-to-be cannabis industry to adopt the regulated infrastructure of the tobacco industry.
Recreational marijuana sales will be legal in Massachusetts in the middle of next year, and companies required by law to track, transport and tax cigarettes are pushing for the same federally-mandated, monopoly power over medical marijuana, the Boston Globe reported Tuesday. TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Gunmen and suicide bombers attacked Iran’s parliament and the shrine of its revolutionary leader on Wednesday, killing at least two people, wounding dozens and igniting an hours-long siege at the legislature that ended with four attackers dead.
The Islamic State group claimed the attacks, marking the first time the Sunni extremists have taken responsibility for an assault in Shiite-majority Iran. MADRID (AP) — Spain’s Banco Santander is paying the symbolic sum of 1 euro to take over local rival Banco Popular, a long-troubled lender whose shares lost more than half of their value over the past week.
In a statement on Wednesday, Santander said it will take over all the stock in Banco Popular, which had 305,152 shareholders as of the end of March.
