To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee’s classic novel about racism and the American south, has been removed from a junior-high reading list in a Mississippi school district because the language in the book “makes people uncomfortable”.

When Bill Clinton was at the height of the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, Hollywood was by his side, offering donations for his legal fees, and one significant donor was a man who is now going through his own sex scandal—Harvey Weinstein.
More than 20 women have publicly accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, sexual assault or rape. After the New York Times and the New Yorker published in-depth stories detailing the testimonies of women who have been abused by Weinstein—and in many cases, paid off with airtight non-disclosure agreements—the stories have continued to come to light.

The deputies who killed Central Idaho rancher Jack Yantis committed “a deadly response to a fictional non-deadly threat,” Yantis family members say in a new wrongful death lawsuit.

Two young illegal immigrant “Dreamers” in the U.S. under protection of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals deportation amnesty were caught smuggling illegal immigrants in separate incidents in Texas, authorities announced last week.

At least seven people are injured and one person is missing after an oil rig exploded Sunday night in Louisiana.

PALO ALTO – Tesla fired hundreds of workers this week, including engineers, managers and factory workers, even as the company struggles to expand its manufacturing and product line.
The dismissals come at a crucial point for the company, which is pushing to increase vehicle production five-fold and reach a broader market with its new Model 3 sedan. The electric vehicle maker missed targets for producing the lower-cost sedan, manufacturing only 260 last quarter despite a wait list of more than 450,000 customers. A longtime GOP staffer who worked on President Trump’s 2016 campaign and interned for Sen. Marco Rubio in 2011 was discovered dead Tuesday after being shot 13 times in his sleep.
Nick Corvino, 30, of Kissimmee, Fla., was shot in his legs, back and head, the arrest affidavit stated, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
Corvino’s roommate, Scott Waddell, 45, who was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, told deputies he “sometimes has homicidal thoughts about killing young men, but has never acted on them,” Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said. Service users over the age of 16 visiting their local GP or hospital may be asked to confirm whether they are straight, gay, bisexual or other from 2019.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he has authorized the U.S. Department of Treasury to sanction Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization under terrorism Executive Order 13224, a move the leader of the free world said was “long overdue.”
