WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order Wednesday directing his interior secretary to review the designation of tens of millions of acres of land as “national monuments,” an action that could upend protections put in place in Utah and other states as Trump tries to rack up accomplishments in his first 100 days.
The Antiquities Act of 1906 authorizes the president to declare federal lands as monuments and restrict how the lands can be used. Continue reading “Trump to order review of national monuments”

While many states have become more gun-friendly in recent years – passing laws that allow for open and concealed carry – California has not. In fact, the state has passed a series of laws that have basically made the Golden State the capital of gun control.
Now the state affiliate of the National Rifle Association is firing back. Continue reading “NRA affiliate sues California over gun-control laws that ‘demonize’ firearm owners”

Manhattan federal prosecutors announced corruption charges Tuesday against a group of former NYPD officers who ran a conspiracy to expedite New York City gun license applications in exchange for bribes, including vacations, strippers, prostitutes, guns, and cash.
According to the complaint, from about 2014 to 2016, Two former members of the NYPD’s licensing division, Paul Dean, a former supervisor, and Robert Espinel, allegedly conspired with gun license “expediters” to fast-track handgun applications for clients that included people arrested and convicted for crimes involving weapons and violence, and for individuals with a history of domestic violence.

It’s something that wouldn’t be out of place in a sci-fi movie – a lamb inside a plastic bag with tubes and fluids helping it grow.
But researchers have shown it’s possible to nurture and protect lambs in late stages of gestation inside an artificial womb; technology which could become a lifesaver for many premature human babies in just a few years. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is proposing tax cuts for individuals and businesses even as Washington struggles with mounting debt and the populist president tries to make good on promises to bring jobs and prosperity to the middle class.
Trump is scheduled Wednesday to unveil the broad outlines of a tax overhaul that would provide massive tax cuts to businesses big and small. The top tax rate for individuals would be cut by a few percentage points, from 39.6 percent to the “mid-30s,” said an official with knowledge of the plan. NEW YORK (AP) — Internet companies are readying for a showdown with telecoms and a Republican-controlled government over a policy near and dear to their hearts: net neutrality. Net neutrality basically prevents broadband providers from playing favorites or steering users toward (or away from) particular internet sites. Under rules enacted during the Obama administration, the likes of Comcast and Verizon — which offer their own video services they’d very much like subscribers to use — can’t slow down Netflix, can’t block YouTube, and can’t charge Spotify extra to stream faster than Pandora. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — For the third time in two months, a federal judge has knocked down an immigration order by President Donald Trump and used Trump’s own language against him. In a ruling on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge William Orrick quoted Trump to support his decision to block the president’s order to withhold funding from “sanctuary cities” that do not cooperate with U.S. immigration officials.
Trump called the sanctuary cities order a “weapon” against communities that disagree with his preferred immigration policy, Orrick said. The judge also cited a February interview in which he said the president threatened to cut off funding to California, saying the state “in many ways is out of control.” Continue reading “Judge cites Trump’s comment in ‘sanctuary city’ ruling”

A thug recently barged into a Cleveland, Ohio, convenience store and demanded money. Apparently, the clerk was taking too long to gather up the cash, and the thief grew impatient. However, after causing a loud ruckus over the clerk’s pace, nothing prepared the thug for what was now lurking behind him and eventually led to his arrest.
The thug, later identified as Frederick Thornton, entered the Convenient Food Mart with every intention to rob the place. As he hid his identity with a simple surgical mask, he walked right over to the cash register and demanded the clerk hand over the money. However, Thornton quickly became aggravated with the clerk’s slow pace and “smacked his gun against the register,” demanding the money be handed to him more quickly, according to Breitbart. I’m truly sorry to report that there is another missing holistic doctor. I wonder how many we need to lose before the entire world starts to demand answers?

Gaithersburg, MD — Guns Loaded? Check… Extra Ammunition? Check… Bullet-proof protective vests? Check… Right home address? Uh oh! In yet another SWAT Team flub, a home has been raided, and its occupants beaten. However, once again, the police went to the wrong address.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in Gaithersburg admits they got it all wrong when they burst into Israel Orellana’s home in Montgomery County. Orellana has the same name as the man police were searching for in a gun theft case. But still, incredibly, Carroll County got a warrant to search the wrong address. Worse yet, the group of people gathered in the home were church goers who were spending the night socializing and praying. It was entirely predictable that as soon as President Donald Trump decided to drop some bombs on a Middle Eastern country, the neoconservative claque that had rejected him during the election would slither back into the GOP orbit. It’s true that Trump himself had nixed the appointment of Elliott Abrams, the man the Republican establishment had chosen to be Rex Tillerson’s right-hand man. That rejection had some people hopeful that Steve Bannon (whom Abrams blamed) would at least prove useful in keeping architects of the GOP’s tragic adventures in Central America and the Middle East out of this White House. In another blow against decades of accepted medical wisdom, one of the most prestigious, long-running studies reports that lowering sodium intake doesn’t reduce blood pressure.
The study also implies that most Americans are consuming a perfectly healthy amount of salt, the main source of sodium. But those who are salt-sensitive, about 20 to 25 percent of the population, still need to restrict salt intake.
