A $3.2 billion public school lunch scheme devised by Michelle Obama has been axed from at least one public school system in New York after students forced to eat according to the new standards were literally starving. Homelessness could be turned into a crime under proposed anti-social behaviour laws a think-tank has warned.
The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing bill, which featured in the Queen’s Speech earlier this month, includes powers to ban certain activities from designated areas.
The Manifesto Club claims these Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) are more wide-ranging than the powers they will replace while including fewer checks on their use leaving them open to exploitation. Egyptian security forces raided the office of the Iranian Al Alam Arabic language satellite channel in Cairo and detained its director, the outlet reported on Saturday.

If you haven’t been able to put two and two together yet, the spectacle we just witnessed as the George Zimmerman trial wasn’t really about George Zimmerman at all. It wasn’t a trial to find real justice and it wasn’t even a trial where George Zimmerman was the accused. It wasn’t about Trayvon Martin or the perceived injustice of a white guy who wasn’t white being racist against a poor, oppressed black kid. Nope, this was a trial where the nation’s self-defense laws were the accused and it was designed explicitly to get the new generation of ding dongs educated in social change and social justice to believe that drastic steps need to be taken to change our nations out dated gun laws. Ding dongs incidentally, that haven’t had an honest discussion about liberty and the constitution since the third grade. The film is set in Indonesia, where, beginning in 1965, military and paramilitary forces slaughtered up to a million Indonesians after overthrowing the democratically elected government. That military was backed by the United States and led by General Suharto, who would rule Indonesia for decades.
There has been no truth and reconciliation commission, nor have any of the murderers been brought to justice. As the film reveals, Indonesia is a country where the killers are to this day celebrated as heroes by many. You’d think the only thing happening in the world right now is the Trayvon Martin case. Perhaps that’s the intention of TPTB. In the last few days of the Zimmerman trial, over 20 children were shot in Chicago, but no one really noticed. I agree without argument or ceremony that both sides, Zimmerman and Trayvon, were in the wrong. That said, we need to move on to equally or more pressing issues and avoid the theatrics designed to distract us.
Issues that are at least if not more pressing include Bernanke and the FED admitting that dollar collapse would be imminent as soon as the FED stops pumping “QE Infinity”. This is very significant because apparently there are only two alternatives – inflation ad infinitum or dollar collapse. But the country being so involved in the soap opera that was the Zimmerman trial and related events, no body seemed to notice much. Continue reading “What Kind of World?”
