A week after gun legislation suffered a stinging defeat in the Senate, an uncomfortable realization has settled over the Capitol that it will likely take another mass shooting or similar tragedy to reignite momentum for gun control.

The CEO of SiteGround, Tenko Nikolov, has informed us that they have decided to terminate our contract.  They admit that they misdirected our domain name and took From the Trenches out for two days, which has cost us dearly.  This CEO however contends that his organization is not political in any way and that the politics of From the Trenches had nothing to do with the oopsidaisy that drove our site into the ground.  This is an international company with its legal office based in Washington DC and I’m sure they are not involved in politics in any way.

This is the equivalent of hiring someone to clean your expensive carpets.  After they say they are done, you inspect the job and see that one of their machines has tore the hell out of your carpet.  You say, “Hey, you destroyed my carpet” and then they say, “Well if that is your attitude, here is your money back and we don’t want to work for you anymore. And oh yeah, tough shit as for your property we destroyed, your loss.”

Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Congressman Frank Lucas (R-OK-3) today introduced in their respective chambers the Ammunition Management for More Obtainability (AMMO) Act of 2013. The legislation would require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a report on the purchasing of ammunition by federal agencies, except the Department of Defense, and its effect on the supply of ammunition available to the public. United States Vice President Joe Biden says the 2014 Boston Marathon will be “bigger, more spectacular” than ever before, and the city’s police commissioner could see that through with some serious changes starting at next year’s race.

Notwithstanding last week’s terrorist attack that killed three and wounded hundreds, Boston, Massachusetts is expected to continue its tradition of hosting the annual 26-mile run next spring. In addition to all the other exotic fumes roiling around the subway, the NYPD will this summer release some nice, “harmless” gases into several stations in order to test for “risks posed by airborne contaminants, including chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) weapons,” the department announced today.

“The NYPD works for the best but plans for the worst when it comes to potentially catastrophic attacks such as ones employing radiological contaminants or weaponized anthrax,” Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said in a statement. The airflow tests will be performed in partnership with the energy department’s Brookhaven National Laboratory using perfluorocarbon tracer gases (PFTs), which, though alarmingly named, are apparently benign.
