Single men from Afghanistan are among the roughly 1,200 Middle Eastern refugees detained in Australia who have been approved for resettlement in the United States after President Trump failed to honor a commitment that he would terminate the refugee deal with the Oceania country.
Former President Obama signed the Australian-U.S. refugee deal during his last months in office — promising to take 1,250 Middle Eastern refugees off Australia’s hands. ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is terminating its contracts with Garrison Keillor and his private media companies after recently learning of allegations of his inappropriate behavior with an individual who worked with him.
Last month, MPR was notified of the allegations which relate to Mr. Keillor’s conduct while he was responsible for the production of A Prairie Home Companion (APHC). MPR President Jon McTaggart immediately informed the MPR Board Chair, and a special Board committee was appointed to provide oversight and ongoing counsel. A Black Lives Matter chapter is launching a “Black Xmas” initiative to urge people to buy from black owned businesses during the holidays to “resist white capitalism.”
Black Lives Matter Los Angeles called on people to refuse to buy from white owned businesses and take that money to invest in the black community from Nov. 25 to Jan. 1. 2018. The boycott serves as an attempt to resist President Donald Trump and his ties to white capitalism, the group added. Hawaiian police sent medical marijuana users a letter ordering them to “voluntarily surrender” their firearms and ammunition.
According to federal law, patients who use medical marijuana are not allowed to own a gun. Federal law applies even in states that allow the medicinal or recreational use of the drug.

A surgeon accused of burning his initials onto patients’ livers will face trial for actual bodily harm.
Consultant Simon Bramhall, 53, is charged with branding one man and one woman’s livers with ‘SB’ during transplant surgery in 2013.

A programmer from New Zealand, Nick Gerritsen, has developed and launched the world’s first virtual politician. Sam is a female politician who will take part in the next general election in 2020.
According to Sam, in New Zealand there is a gap between what politicians promise and what can be achieved with the help of the laws that they actually implement. “I have to fill this gap,” the New Zealand virtual politician said, website nplus1.ru reported.

A fired Florida Atlantic University professor who once said the Sandy Hook massacre was staged by the government to take away gun rights will try to convince the jury he was unlawfully dismissed from his position last year.
James Tracy, a former tenured professor at the university, claims his free speech rights were violated by the school after he was fired in January 2016 for perpetuating conspiracy theories on his personal blog. NEW YORK (Reuters) – The developer of the World Trade Center in New York has reached a $95.2 million settlement of all claims against American Airlines Group Inc, United Continental Holdings Inc and other aviation defendants stemming from the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, which involved the carriers’ hijacked planes.
