Heat Street – by William Hicks

Kali Wilgus and Liz “LC” Connelly, owners of Portland pop-up shop Kooks Burritos, just wanted to make and sell some really great burritos. So when they were on a trip to Puerto Nuevo, Mexico, they “picked the brains” of the local tortilla ladies and brought those recipes back to the States.

“I picked the brains of every tortilla lady there in the worst broken Spanish ever, and they showed me a little of what they did,” Connelly told Willamette Weekly. “They told us the basic ingredients, and we saw them moving and stretching the dough similar to how pizza makers do before rolling it out with rolling pins. They wouldn’t tell us too much about technique, but we were peeking into the windows of every kitchen, totally fascinated by how easy they made it look. We learned quickly it isn’t quite that easy.”   Continue reading “Portland Burrito Shop Forced to Close After Getting Hounded for ‘Stealing From Mexico’”

Oddity Central – by Spooky

Alcides Ravel, a farmer from Uruguay, bought his Ford F-350 in 1969, when he was 35 years old. Recently, the 83-year-old man finally put his faithful vehicle to eternal rest, after 48 years of service, by burying it on his farm.

For most people, trucks are mere tools to be used and sold when they outlive their usefulness, but that’s not the case of Alcides Ravel. Although his old truck had been broken down for over four years and mechanics had told him that it was beyond fixing, he couldn’t bring himself to sell it to the scrapyard. Instead, he kept it safe from the elements in a shed on his farm, near the town of Barker, until he was finally ready to part with it. Three weeks ago, he buried his faithful companion on his land, a “small gesture” in honor of nearly five decades of service.   Continue reading “Farmer Buries His Faithful Truck After 48 Years of Service”

“Governor, if I had foreseen the use those people designed to make of their victory, there would have been no surrender at Appomattox Courthouse; no sir, not by me. Had I foreseen these results of subjugation, I would have preferred to die at Appomattox with my brave men, my sword in my right hand.”

— Robert E. Lee (1807-1872) General-in-Chief of the Confederate States army.

The year was 1969

… I was just out of High School working Full-Time as Day Shift Chef in a Steak House for a sweet old guy that was very good to me as an adopted son …

My ride at that time was a Suzuki 118 that I was constantly wrenching-on but it was a beautiful piece of machinery and I absolutely could NOT kill it as long as I kept 2 Cycle Oil in the tank and checked the Crankcase now and then … at 35 cents a gallon I could see and ride for miles and miles all over the East Coast for mere penny’s and I sometimes rode with friends, so we had a loose Brotherhood but of course the Sporties were always in the lead …   Continue reading “If 6 was 9”

Personal Liberty – by Bob Livingston

There is war going on now between government and the American people. It’s being fought on many fronts. Only a few Americans are aware of the depth and breadth of what is happening, and fewer still are seriously concerned.

You knowledgeable readers of Personal Liberty® and consumers of non-fake news are outliers, making up only a small percentage of the American populace. The vast majority of Americans are unaware, and unaware that they are unaware. They are blown to and fro and easily excited over every fake meme and outrage making its way across social media and headlined on mainstream media outlets.   Continue reading “Can Times Get Better In America Without A Major Crisis?”

Just in case you forgot what the War of Northern Aggression did via the so-called 14th Amendment:

Brown v. Welch, 116 Ind. 117 (1866) aff’d. Contracts Payable in Gold.Senate Resolution No. 62 (April 24, 1933) (The ultimate ownership of all property is in the State; individual so-called “ownership” is only by virtue of Government;i.e., law, amounting to mere user; and use must be in accordance with law and subordinate to the necessities of the State. The fact that citizens, at a given time may prefer specie to currency, or vice versa, cannot prevent Congress from enacting those laws which it deems necessary to the maintenance of a proper monetary system.); http://www.commonlawvenue.com/Misc/payable%20in%20gold.pdf    Continue reading “Just in case you forgot”
