President Obama has officially asked for $3.7 billion in emergency funding to handle the tens of thousands of Central American children who’ve showed up unaccompanied at the U.S.-Mexico border seeking entry and support.
According to the Washington Post, “Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance.” Detention facilities would be set-up in border areas, where temporary facilities are now being controversially used to house immigrants. Three Cedar Hill police officers were burned Wednesday in a confrontation with a man who reportedly doused himself with gasoline and caught fire.
The man was then shot by police.
Police responded to a call around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday about a burglary in progress at an apartment near a strip mall at the corner of southeast Hwy. 67 and W. Belt Line Road. Continue reading “Cedar Hill officers burned, suspect shot in confrontation”
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho—An officer shot and killed a pit bull on Wednesday morning near 8th Street and Sherman. Investigators described the dog as a “vicious” pit bull and said it lunged at the officer. However, the dog’s owner said the dog was not a pit bull but a black lab (pictured above).
The incident began Wednesday morning when an officer responded to call about a suspicious van. The caller claimed the driver of van was watching young children from a nearby parking lot. The owners of coffee shop reported the white van because they thought it was possibly connected to child luring case. A 44-year-old local man is facing a criminal charge because he allegedly posted on Facebook a video depicting Windsor police headquarters being blown up with a rocket launcher.
“We take this seriously,” said Windsor police spokesman Sgt. Matt D’Asti on Tuesday.
