Yesterday, I wrote about my plans to safely isolate my family should the Ebola virus become pandemic in the United States. What I didn’t touch on very much was the Ebola vaccine that is in the works.
The Ebola Vaccine could become mandatory.
Some people suspect that if a national health crisis were to occur, that a vaccine could be made mandatory. (I hope that President Obama doesn’t read my website, because I’d hate to give him any ideas – he gets so excited about circumventing Congress and making his own laws.) He’s already signed an executive order that says people suspected of being ill can be detained and isolated. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) today released a video by acclaimed documentarian Brian Knappenberger(The Internet’s Own Boy) that explores how and why an unlikely coalition of advocacy organizations launched an airship over the National Security Agency’s Utah data center.

A scathing report released Monday details the “culture of violence” imposed upon teenage inmates at New York City’s Rikers Island, the second largest jail facility in the U.S. The report, a product of a two-and-a-half-year investigation by the Justice Department, describes the “rampant use of unnecessary and excessive force” by guards and the overreliance on solitary confinement as a means of punishment.

After many decades of promoting aspirin, the FDA now says that if you have not experienced a heart problem, you should not be taking a daily aspirin—even if you have a family history of heart disease. ATLANTA — Nancy Writebol, the second American medical missionary stricken with Ebola virus in Liberia, arrived at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta Tuesday after a trans-Atlantic flight in a small jet outfitted with an isolation pod.
Writebol, 59, arrived at Dobbins Air Reserve Base aboard the same jet that brought the first American patient, 33-year-old physician Kent Brantly, to the medical center from Liberia on Saturday, WXIA-TV reports.
