Residents of a northern California county on Tuesday voted in favor of a measure that will now force local officials to consider a plan to secede from the state and form a new entity named Jefferson.

A group of Spalding County middle school students is facing suspension over a Facebook post about the school dress code.

“And (the principal) was like, ‘OK, you’re a threat to our school,’ and then she suspended me,” a 7^th grade student told Channel 2’s Wendy Corona.

Following President Obama’s commitment of $1 billion to expand NATO’s role in Eastern Europe, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced on Thursday that the United States will be bolstering its presence in the Black Sea region.

Hagel is currently swinging through Romania, a NATO member that has urged the US to increase its presence in Eastern Europe in the wake of the Ukraine conflict and Russia’s accession of Crimea. Tracking Point, a Texas company that develops precision-tracking technology for firearms, announced via a YouTube video on Thursday that it has combined wearable technology, like Google Glass, with a Precision Guided Firearm (PGF) in a way that allows users to shoot around corners. A Seattle police officer who stomped on a handcuffed man’s head in 2010 was cleared of wrongdoing this week after Interim Seattle Police Chief Harry Bailey agreed that a concussion made him do it.

A military jet has crashed into a residential area in Imperial Valley, Southern California. At least two houses caught fire, but no one on the ground was hurt. The pilot ejected successfully and was uninjured.

A manhunt is underway after a gunman fatally shot three RCMP officers and injured two others in Moncton, N.B.

As heavily armed police conduct their search, residents in the Moncton Coliseum area and Pinehurst subdivision are advised to remain under lock down.
