A pedestrian bridge under construction collapsed Thursday less than a week after crews dropped the elevated span in place over the Tamiami Trail in an effort to provide students a safe route across the busy roadway.

The bridge, which was not open, collapsed atop an unknown number of people and cars underneath. Police quickly closed the road. It is not known how many people may have been injured in the collapse, which was clearly a major failure of a on-going project not expected to be completed until early 2019.

South Florida’s WSVN reported that television news helicopters were ordered to back off so rescuers could listen for sounds from survivors.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway told Hillary Clinton to “stop pretending you’re a feminist” over her remarks about female Republican voters feeling pressure to vote the same way as their husbands.

Conway lashed out on Thursday during an appearance on the Fox and Friends program. “Let me tell you something, lady,” she said, addressing Clinton. “The idea that I, or other women like me have to ask our husbands how to vote, it’s really a joke. Surveillance video released Thursday shows former deputy Scot Peterson standing outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while Nikolas Cruz fatally shot 17 students and staff.

Fox5 San Diego reports that anti-Trumpers scheduled two rallies a day before Trump’s visit against what organizers call the “wasteful, harmful and irresponsible” plan to build the wall. Gold bars worth millions of dollars have fallen out of a plane taking off from Russia’s Yakutia region, famous for its diamond deposits. Ruptly was one of the first to film the valuables inside the damaged jet after the incident.

Photos circulating on social media appear to show gold bars wrapped in material scattered on the runway at Yakutsk Airport, in the country’s major diamond-producing region. Pasadena, TX — A disturbing video was submitted to the Free Thought Project this week showing a police officer shove a woman, throw her to the ground and then choke her out. After she was brutalized by the officer, the woman arrested and charged with his assault.
